Matt Bacon Posted July 13, 2019 Posted July 13, 2019 Now the Corvette topic has piqued my interest, what’s the best way to get a C5 Z06 in model form? I can find AMT and Revell kits of what seems to be the right generation, but someone must have got the recipe down pat already... beat, M.
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 (edited) I don't have the AMT kit to compare, but I can say without reservation that the Revell Z06 C5 is a great kit. Proportions are very good, mechanical bits are crisply rendered. The only downside that I recall is the automatic gearbox/transaxle assembly. To get a manual box, you'll have to get the Revell C6 (IIRC). Edited July 14, 2019 by Ace-Garageguy

But I can't remember who did it or even if they are still in business. I do believe the C6 does have a manual, but am 2,000 miles from home (and the stash) at the moment to confirm
Matt Bacon Posted July 14, 2019 Author Posted July 14, 2019 Thanks, guys... it looks I'll be waiting a while for this one, since the only one available on this side of the pond is £758 (really!) from Amazon... I'll keep my eyes peeled for the 2004 Commemorative edition, which seems to be the most recent release. Thanks! best, M.
fumi Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 I think only Revell made the C5 Corvette in notchback form.
Len Woodruff Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Here is one I recently built. Revell did 2 C5 Z06. One as the commemorative version and the other as a plain Z06. The only difference is the decals.
Matt Bacon Posted July 16, 2019 Author Posted July 16, 2019 That looks really excellent! Now I just have to find one... best, M.

I have an Extra Z06 I can send you if you can cover the freight. I am not sure how to send it but if you know how to do it then I am game to try.
Matt Bacon Posted July 17, 2019 Author Posted July 17, 2019 That’s a really kind offer, Len. Let me look into shipping... one of the reasons I’ve not just bought one from US eBay is that the sellers want $15 for the kit and $50 for postage to the UK, which may mean USPS is REALLY that expensive. With the £ in its current low, that makes for an expensive kit, even with your extremely generous offer! Let me see what I can find and get back to you... and thanks again. best, M.
peteski Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 I went to USPS website and selected small 1lb. package to UK. Lowest price is 1st Class International Package. $24.00US. https://postcalc.usps.com/Calculator/MailServices?country=10143&ccode=GB&omil=False&dmil=False&mdt=7%2F17%2F2019&mdz=8%3A29&m=6&dvi=20&p=1
