What really sunk him politically was his "aliens have taken over the government" website. Not kidding, he's a big believer in UFO's, aliens and some conspiracy stuff. He had a site bemoaning the "takeover" of the US government by aliens and was WIDELY mocked. Lizard people, underground bases.....the whole deal. Google Garlits aliens Gar is a nice guy, the greatest drag racer ever, but....................................a bit far out on some things.
