rob1957 Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 We have an AMT , ERTL # 6567 kit 1969 SS 396 Chevelle and there is no rad fan in the schematics or included with this kit . What the ??? This is an older kit we picked up 2nd hand , I thought fan was missing , but it isn't in the drawings . Engine compartment photo on box is front to back / grille to firewall so it doesn't show up there . Nice little kit except for this head scratcher . Any suggestions out there would be appreciated. Thanks . Robert.
espo Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 I don't know what all you have in your parts stash, but that is where I would look first. I your going for a day 2 type build you might get an after market radiator mounted fan. There is also a section here on the Forum where you can list your needs and maybe someone will trade or comp you a fan.
Snake45 Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Should be a fan in there, according to the instructions: https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/automotive-cars--pi/chevrolet/1961-1970/amt-1969-chevelle-s/1969chevroletchevel-6.html If it's not, don't you have an extra fan in your Parts Box? Fans aren't a critical, high-interest item and anything that would fit should get you by. (Few would care if you left it off altogether.) Unless you're doing a full-on, "A-list" build, which, frankly, this kit just isn't worth.
randyc Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 But there are rarely extra fans in kits since it is NOT a high profile item. It might take me a few minutes to find an extra fan myself. I went to the fotki page. I see the FAN, but not drawing of the RADIATOR/CORE SUPPORT. No install step. what the heck??? It is shown in step 10/11 in place, but nowhere do I see a detail of whether it goes in the body first or glued to chassis. In the 68 instructions, https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/automotive-cars--pi/chevrolet/1961-1970/amt-68-chevrolet-ch/picture002.html#media, it is shown in step 2. Also, the 1970 Chevelle based on the same kit is missing the radiator wall in the instructions. Red car on gray box. Seems like a conspiracy brewing.... And used opened kits can be a mess for this reason. You think everything is there til you get it opened and building, then see what you miss. But the fan is a parts box thing. Maybe a radiatror wall and radiator too. Could be scratch built reasonably easily if builder has enough stuff on hand.
tbill Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 The convertible kit has a fan, would think it’s same parts trees for the most part.
