jjsipes Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 After seeing the topic of the Golden Sahara Restored, it made think about the Kopper Kart. I went to the Goodguys 1st Grundy American Nationals Show at the York Fairgrounds in York, PA and was walking around and came upon it. I was surprised to see it sitting outside. I didn't talk to anyone about it. Had people walking around it all day. Not sure it is was the real deal or not but still kinda cool to see.
espo Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 Sure looks like the real thing. To bad you didn't get a chance to verify if it was real or not. The paint and interior look almost to good to be that old so it may of been redon at some point.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 Though it's pretty hidjus, it's really cool in it's way. As his career advanced, Barris certainly became the master of hanging a lot of dog-awful stuff on a vehicle.
Mark Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 The one pictured is a copy. If I remember right, there is a Rodders' Journal article that explains what happened to the original. Note that Barris' name is not on the side panels as on the original.
Richard Bartrop Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 According to this https://www.copper.org/consumers/arts/2015/june/kopper-kraft.html the original was destroyed, it is in all likelihood the recreation. Still a neat artifact, and an illustration of how custom trends went from "less is more" to "more is more" to "Way too much is almost there".
jjsipes Posted October 16, 2019 Author Posted October 16, 2019 Thanks guys. Looks like it's a recreation but it still cool to see it.
