JHDrew Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Just wanted to show the latest pictures of the Studio 27 Ferrari F430 GT Risi car that raced in the 2007 ALMS. Some of you may recall their fender banging close finish ahead of the Porsche at Sebring that year. It was also my first visit to the track. Studio 27 is also making the two Lemans cars from the same season. Anyway, my order is on it's way from Hobby Link Japan. Enjoy the pictures.
ismaelg Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 (edited) Ohhh! That's gorgeous! I have pictures of that car from the Petit Le Mans race in Atlanta in my Fotki albums. Looking forward to see its progress.... Thanks, Edited September 24, 2008 by ismaelg
Nick F40 Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 (edited) Oh dear god eat your heart out Lizards! Man, I still look back at the Youtube video and I still love it, now that's what I call sports car racing! I still think it was fair. That was your first time? '07? man you are lucky. Does that NOT look like the stock engine? So they have the ALMS and the LeMans versions, cool, now all I need is the Petit and Redbull one. I get to represent Forza 2 now and my Risi boys. You beat me to the ordering though, which I figured you would but I am soon! can't wait for the progress pics and I am watching you on this one. This looks so great actually. I am surprised how detailed the engine looks. Great pictures, both you guys. Edited September 24, 2008 by Nick F40
Brendan Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Since you're going to be doing this car, I'm going to have to be doing the Lizard car. Scale Productions has come out with the decal sheet. It looks like it will fit onto the Profil 24 Porsche. http://www.stradasportsstore.com/page86.html It's at the bottom of the page.
crispy Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 I look forward to this build as well. Beautiful stuff and I really look forward to your updates and progress. I have yet to build an S27 kit. It's a little more money than I care to spend, but I have yet to see one built too. Keep us updated! Chris
george 53 Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 (edited) What, you mean our resident Ferrari Freak Nick(F-40) ain't seen THIS bad boy yet? Shiiiii.... When he does he'll probly be the next one to post in WIP pics! Beautiful car, but then again it IS a Ferrari. Please keep us posted on this build, caz I think it's gonna be a killer! BTW, How much was it, after all the postage an stuff? Edited September 26, 2008 by george 53
JHDrew Posted September 25, 2008 Author Posted September 25, 2008 BTW, How much was it, after all the postage an stuff? $223.00!!!! It getting harder to spend that kind of money and still feel OK about it. But I sure do love that car. (My CFO has put me on hold for awhile because of this purchase.)
Brendan Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 I've had really good luck getting Studio 27 kits from Mark at M & S Hobbies. If he doesn't have the kits listed, email him about the kit you want and he'll try to get it for you. Also I've had good luck with Kevin from Strata Sports. http://www.mshobbies.com/servlet/StoreFront http://www.stradasports.com/
Zoom Zoom Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Looks like fun! Hope to see some of the lizards built too! Maybe a little diorama of the Sebring front straight? Too bad S27 botched the wheels so badly. It's a shame that nobody makes a good set of resin BBS racing wheels like this car runs. The ones in the SMS C6R are nice but completely overdone/overpriced (metal is not necessary when the cars run painted wheels), the world needs some good affordable resin BBS wheels that have the correct spokes and the correct diameter.
Nick F40 Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 What, you mean our resident Ferrari Freak CAL (Chris) ain't seen THIS bad boy yet? Shiiiii.... Oh ######....no Chris is the Porsche freak, i'm the Ferrari freak! $223.00!!!! It getting harder to spend that kind of money and still feel OK about it. But I sure do love that car. (My CFO has put me on hold for awhile because of this purchase.) wha... ok, it MIGHT be a while Bob, yeah except I better not see anyone changing the positions around! I also would love some GOOD BBS's
george 53 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Sorry, Nick, My Bad, ###### LIZARDS!!!!

Brendan, Just a thought, wouldn't it be cheaper to buy the Scale Productions conversion for the Tamiya kit or am I missing something? Actually, I wouldn't mind doing one of those myself.

Actually, I wouldn't mind doing one of those myself. The only transkit that I know that they make are for the 996. The Flying Lizard car is a 997. There was talk that he was going to do a kit with Lizard decals but I haven't heard anything else about it. I'm still waiting to see if he's going to do the S7.
