Floorpan fitted to the chassis and held in place with spring clamps while the glue dries up overnight, not the easiest job lining the exhaust and manifold up, but it's doable, in fairness to Revell, there are 3 mounting pins on the exhaust, the front one is marked "Do not glue" which of course i only noticed after, you'd guessed it, glued it to the chassis.....

sounds exactly like something I would do...or already have done....LOL

I think I might be getting the hang of this clear coating, being acrylic it'll need some time to dry before getting wet sanded and polished

One thing I didn't want to do is to make the paintwork too shiny on this Land Rover, as in real life the paint was o.k at best, checked the clearcoat this morning, and it had dried with a slight mottled finish, so I've wet sanded it with 4000 and 6000 grit paper, then polished, I'll think I'll stop now....

Right hand side wet sanded with 4000 & 6000, ready for polishing  but the left hand side didn't go well, only using 4000 grit and in places I've burnt through the clearcoat and base coat, user error?? very possibly, this model is a learning curve, as it's the first time I've used basecoat/clearcoat, oh well, back in the spraybooth tomorrow, i knew there was a reason i bought 2 bottles of the green, I'm not happy with the clearcoat i was given, never had to wet sand clearcoat unless there was a dust nib in it, so I've just ordered 3 cans of my "Go To" clearcoat,  Hycote, which airbrushes brilliantly decanted from the aerosol.

Round two with the base basecoat completed, went on much smoother using my Paasche VL airbrush instead of my Badger 200

perfect color combination. Really enjoyed watching this build!!!

It's not the colour I wanted to paint it, but I was asked by Revell to paint it to replicate the box art, it's going on show at the IPMS show in November (if it doesn't get cancelled)

Love the paint rack. Clever. No, brilliant!

Masked the interior side panels so that the satin black could be airbrushed, now I just need to mask off the interior door handles so that they can be airbrushed in light gloss grey

This one has been fighting me, it tried again today, just finishing off the last coat of clearcoat and then something landed on it, so a quick wet sand, thankfully round 2 went to plan, it will now be left to dry off while I get some clearcoat put on the Golf, then I can start the polishing.

Didn't turn out too bad, well worth all the effort masking up the door panels....

Although the bulkhead isn't fixed in, it actually gets fitted inside the body, i just popped it in place while all those smaller components dry up.

Got the interior side panels fitted, before they went in the door locks were airbrushed in a mix of Tamiya titanium silver and gold, although now the side panels are fitted  you can't really see them.

Making a start on the polishing, this is the first stage using Poorboys SSR2, which is a medium swirl mark remover for 1:1 automotive use, just another 4 other compounds to use before the polishing is finished
