Long Overdue - Eddie Murphy Back on SNL

I haven't watched SNL in over twenty years until last night. Seeing Eddie back on makes one remember what a comic genius he is.

The best part was the opening with Tracy Morgan, Chris Rock, and Dave Chappell. 

They managed to resurrect Mr. Robinson, Gumby, Velvet Jones, and Buckwheat. Some of this was funny. And Eddie managed to say the S-word on live TV. 

Best line of the night was Judge Janine's "Merry Christmas."

I haven't watched it in 20 years either, and last night was no exception.

They lost me years ago when they started becoming far too political.

It ceased to be funny anymore.

I watched last night for the first time in years.

Not as good as I was hoping. I think the weekend update segment was the only part I laughed out loud at. And Mister Robinson's Neighborhood.

Ah I missed it, but I heard he did some of his old gigs.I’ll u tube it for a good laugh.I heard he was great....thats Eddie.

His opening monologue was good. Very obvious and funny Bill Cosby joke. 

Mister Robinson was funny, Buckwheat was so/so, Velvet Jones not so much, Gumby was funny. 

 

 

Would rather see a "reunion" show with the cast from the mid-90s. Sandler, Spade, Rock, Nealon, MacDonald, etc.

Many of them have been guest hosts. IIRC Adam Sandler did the last show of last season and it was by far the best episode of the year. 

I'd like to see more of Chris Rock, too.
