Golden Commander HT is great looking. Mostly stock body, many builds of S/S cars are posts. Love cars like this, preserve some, but full trim needs to be kept as well. New guts, stock HT best of both. Sweet pickle green needs to go though.  Good find.

I would only advise keeping it as iot if it were build by someone you know/cared for like father, brother etc, OR, if it were particularly well done, which neither seems to be the case.

while people can, and do, profit from the "value" of old kits, I firmly believe that models were made to be built, so take what you have, and build sir.

most of the s/s cars had trim removed but I've been struggling with that part. I'll be using the lindberg color me gone as a donor.

To be honest, most of its "personality" was in the paint job anyway (let's call it folk art :)) so you're all set - plus the '63 was reissued much later than the other USA Oldies kits, so it's easier to find. Knock yourself out and let's see a build thread!

Correct.

It's not a particularly rare kit in the world of vintage kits, so I say knock yourself out!

I would also agree with this.

Some find it a noble enterprise to preserve a complete stranger's work from decades ago.

I have to ask myself, why?

Unless it has a personal connection, I'm not certain that I understand why someone would want to preserve their work.

If you own it now, it obviously wasn't all that important that they save it for themselves. ;)

i found it online so its nothing sentimental. i just thought by it be the first issue maybe i should leave it along and grab another. im sure I'll get flamed for this but i don't see the purpose in having a car displayed if i didn't build it no matter how old it is. i understand people will disagree but thats just personal preference.
