catpack68 Posted October 16 Posted October 16 I primed the body on the Revell 68 Firebird I’ve been working on this morning. I finished painting the wheels and tires. I painted the engine earlier this week with MCW Pontiac blue and added a MAD distributor.The body color will be white with a factory red stripe and red interior. 4
meechum68 Posted October 17 Posted October 17 I got a second coat of primer on the Catalina and Hudson after cleaning up mold lines, tomorrow will be touch up if needed, then the Hudson gets first coat of body paint. The Skyline I am working on, I will be able to start some detail painting on the chassis parts and some assembly to at least get it to roller. The interior is in an alcohol bath due to some paint being horrid. I will get both frames of the Hudson and Pontiac final painted, then will figure out the chassis parts color for them, and then prime and paint. I also figured out where my OBS kit is... and I have to unbury it from behind the air craft. 1

meechum68 Posted October 18 Posted October 18 So I did some work on the Skyline chassis, and had the steering linkage working and I was messing with something and broke it, and then the other half took flying lessons, so it's another part I raid out of my other Skyline like it. (May have to change what I do with it) Put another coat of primer on the Catalina. Put another coat of primer on the Hudson, and it failed bad so into the pond it went. I knew then it was time to walk away. 3

Here is the lineup L-R AMT 70 Challenger with a 440 six pack ,resin 70 SE body (small back window) fitted to AMT chassis with a Yankee Challenger hood hole that the hood has been filled, AMT 70 Challenger with a 72-74 resin conversion & hood from Harts Parts, AMT 70 Challenger with a 66 Nova pro street chassis fitted and Compresins hood. It was a Mopar weekend. 3

Frames for the Hudson and Pontiac done. (Have to figure out chassis colors, really thinking of going white for a huge contrast) Started messing with the Hudson engine, test fitting so I can get it ready for prime and paint.

Ive never had much luck with tight bends. These were "cold" bent, I used a pair of tweezers to act as a brake. I roll the the piece between my fingers to get a bit of heat in it and position the tweezers. The tight bends at the head are kinda "cheated". I bend close to a 90 degree, trim for length than chamfer the end. That allows you to angle the pieces where you need them and solvent glue takes care of the rest with a little pressure. The rings on the flange act as a "well" and give a positive location. Hope this makes sense, These are the first set I've ever made. 3 1

Mattilacken Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago This rear connection that never was intended to be seen by revell has been fighting me.. might have to do with all the mods and the fact that everything have been cut apart and fitted to an other chassis, but any how.. third time trying to fixate this.. epoxy every time but the glue areal is small and the tension for pulling them apart is high. Now I use Tamiya epoxy and try with leaving a small gap so it’s not as much tension. There is now way I can make a cut to make the tension less. cross my fingers. 2

So I stripped it and put bmf on the emblem and painted again. Looks good straight out of the AB, LP Clear is not as “hot” as TS clear which is good. Did an other wet coat after this. 3
