RadRidesByDan Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 (edited) I tried something way out of my bubble and really have no idea how these trucks are supposed to be built to specs, It took me 4 1/2 months to build this one and I did the best to my knowledge in regards of drivetrain, suspension, and chassis. Most of the chassis is scratchbuilt and same for the suspension parts....I dug into my spare parts for most of the shocks and control arms and....WELL....Most of the parts was from the spare box I grafted a NASCAR roof to the Dodge Ram 1500 RT body to give it that wide stance look. So for you hardcore 4x4 guys, please take it easy on me Edited October 9, 2008 by RadRidesByDan
randx0 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 I really like it. it is a shame there hasn't been a racing 4x4 done in scale.you got the look right thats for sure keep it up!
Harry P. Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 It looks "right" to me! (Not that I know anything about these things...but it just looks right! ) If it was mine I think I'd widen the front skid plate and add a brush guard to protect the headlights...
evilone Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 is it possable if i ask nice enough that we can git some more pics of it
Nick F40 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 SWEET! As I am one of the very few also hardcore offroaders, I love this! This look, prerunner look, is what I like, the wide stance, skid plates and a light bar up front with 4 KC's would look sweet! It has a CORR look. Ready for the Taupo 1000 or Baja 1000 Either though it is a Dodge I would rather prefer Toyota Aoshima baja tires ?
ModelKing Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 your dodge looks awsome. i really like the weathering.
crispy Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 That's awesome! What a great blend of parts. IT really looks the part. You do some great off road work. Chris
coopdad Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Ditto, great job! John p.s. where did you get the tires/wheels?
RadRidesByDan Posted October 9, 2008 Author Posted October 9, 2008 Aoshima baja tires ? Ditto, great job! John p.s. where did you get the tires/wheels? Thanks for the great comments and........... thanks to the 4x4 speciallists for taking it easy on me I have had these tires for about 10 years, They are the Bridgestone Dessert Duellers by American Satco when they were around. As for the wheels they come from the 1964 GTO Revell kit 1/24 scale. I know some where in the future I wil have to make a mould of these tires and wheels for other projects.
Nick F40 Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 yes you will! They look exactly like the ones in the Aoshima Hilux kits, that's why I asked! Trust me, these are sweet and addicting!
Mike Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 I've always liked this one. I'm an off-road Ivan "Ironman" Stewart truck-race fanatic! I also wish that a kit would be done of the current baja trucks.
Frank Steffens Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 That is sweet! Great idea using the Nascar roof....it really does give it that wide baja look!
RadRidesByDan Posted October 11, 2008 Author Posted October 11, 2008 Again thank you to all for the great comments.
RodneyBad Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 You made a whole new class of BAJAs. Nascar roof? Who would of thought of that? Looks down right Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
george 53 Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Dan, I gotta agree wit the Zukester. The roof on it was a stroke of genius! Looks like a Monte Carlo roof or at least a G.M. roof. Whooda thunk it woulda come out so good? Another killer ride from "Rad Rides by Dan"! GREAT BUILD!!!
RadRidesByDan Posted October 11, 2008 Author Posted October 11, 2008 Guys......I am humbled by your comments. Thank you
