styromaniac Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 Sci Fi subjects were well represented...
styromaniac Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 Armor modelers take up several tables every year, and their weathering skills are top of the line. Check out the chipped paint on this T-55 tank....
styromaniac Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 Fine photo etched mesh on the nose of this Sikorsky helicopter. Aviation subjects also bring a lot of participation.
styromaniac Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 This display of a missle carrying helicopter concept from the late 50s early 60s had a humorous touch...
styromaniac Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 The tiny pilot sitting on the display actually had a wisp of cotton "smoke" emanating from his cigarette.
Gramps46 Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Thanks for posting Steve. I think I was standing right next to you when you were shooting pictures.
styromaniac Posted March 3, 2020 Author Posted March 3, 2020 (edited) Perhaps you were Gary ! I wish I had taken more pics....its a challenge to hit all the vendors while still budgeting enough time to appreciate all the great workmanship on display. 7 1/2 hours wasn't enough time. stinkybritches Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Where was this held? I would have loved to have been there.
stinkybritches Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 Thank you. I will be on the lookout for the next one.

There were a lot of flyers there on a table for IPMS shows this year in NC, VA. MD and PA. NOVA IPMS has their annual show April 18th in Fairfax. True turnout of car and truck models is usually pretty good and modelers come from the Tidewater area, Roakone, MD and PA etc.. See www.novaipms.org. I go to this show which is ten minutes from my house and almost always win at least one award. LIke Richmond most of the vendors sell military and sci-fi and figure stuff but this also means you can also find some deals on older kits. There is a Hobby Lobby and Michael's within a 15 minute drive and one hobby store in Chantilly about 20 minutes away.
stinkybritches Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 Thank you for the information. I have a 14 month old son, so the chance to travel to other areas is limited right now. But I will keep my eyes open for show dates as he gets older. I live about 25 minutes from Richmond Raceway so I would have probably been able to get there for a couple of hours.
