Tamiya TS-59

Hello all,

I'll looking for some extra info on using Tamiya's TS-59 color.

Has anybody ever tried different base/primer colors and what were the results?

I'd like the color to pop!!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Tamiya makes a pink (fine) primer, as well as a white (ultra fine) primer. Spoon tests will tell you which effect pops more, but I suspect the pink will do so with less color coats. Shooting TS 59 over a red base coat will darken the final color, shift the hue. I've seen Tamiya dark red oxide and pink primers show up in hobby shops in Canada, and have been waiting to try some. If they are anything like the older grey and white primers in their lines, should be good products.

I wasn't aware of that pink primer, thanks for the tip!

Any idea if silver or gold wild be a good plan?

This is the difference that coloured primers can make with the same paint. This is tamiya x-46 over L-R : red oxide,grey,pink and white. Tests are the best way to go.

I agree with Greg regarding the spoon test. Just pick the one you like best. And yes, I would like to see it over a light metallic silver as well.
