mrmike Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) Thanks Scott! I fired up the paintbooth and primered and painted the Fairlane this afternoon. The color is Model Master Wimbeldon White. More Fairlane to come... Edited April 12, 2020 by mrmike
mrmike Posted April 17, 2020 Author Posted April 17, 2020 I had found some sanding marks in the plastic and in the process of polishing, I had polished almost through the paint. I masked off the trunk lid and added a couple coats of Model Master Wimbeldon White. More Fairlane to come...
mrmike Posted April 19, 2020 Author Posted April 19, 2020 I couldn't resist the urge to do a mockup of the Fairlane. This is looking really good! More Fairlane to come...
rustybill1960 Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Your build is coming along quite nicely Thank You for sharing and Building it Your way, I find it so refreshing to just build a kit with one purpose in mind........ " I built this " Later
espo Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 I have been enjoying your Fairlane build. The interior and exterior colors look great together. I had a neighbor / CHP Officer that had one back in the day. The little 271 hp 289 cu in 4 speed car was his daily driver. You could hear the solid lifters as he cruised down the block after work.
mrmike Posted April 19, 2020 Author Posted April 19, 2020 Thanks Russell and David! This build is different for me. It has allowed my to reconnect with an old friend and to build this kit completely different from what Revell wanted it built as.
mrmike Posted May 5, 2020 Author Posted May 5, 2020 (edited) I started foiling last night and I continued on this morning. This one spear took me about 30 minutes total time to do. More Fairlane to come... Edited May 5, 2020 by mrmike
mrmike Posted May 8, 2020 Author Posted May 8, 2020 I am nearly done foiling the '64 Fairlane. All that's left is the side moldings and window trim. I painted the doghouse with Tamiya X-18 Semi Gloss Black. More Fairlane to come...
randyc Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Looking great! Thanks for building it differently than the box,
mrmike Posted May 10, 2020 Author Posted May 10, 2020 Thanks Guido and Randy! This was someone else's vision, but with a few touches by me. I have another '64 Fairlane to build with the 427/auto trans and a Modelhaas resin bench seat. I may follow a simular route with that build as I did with build. I have clearcoated the '64 Fairlane with 3 coats of Model Master Ultra Gloss Clear. More Fairlane to come...
espo Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Great looking paint work. I like the addition of the red in the side trim. many overlook that touch.
mrmike Posted May 10, 2020 Author Posted May 10, 2020 Thanks David! The stripes are on the decal sheet, so why not use them? After 4 hours in the dehydrator @110 degrees, I pulled the Fairlane out and started assembly. More Fairlane to come...
mrmike Posted May 12, 2020 Author Posted May 12, 2020 I have finished my '64 Fairlane and it is posted in Under Glass.
