The Vega and Pinto reissues used original box art, this one probably will too. No plated parts, no printed tires, no large decal sheets keep the price down on these.

Thanks.  I'm trying to rescue one of those from the Shelf Of Doom right now.  If I can finish wiring the engine and nail it together, it should be done.  On that hood, I wanted to confuse everybody by using "Ford" (for the body) and "Chevrolet" (for the engine) decals together.

The engine in these kits is a pretty nice 383 Stroker Chevy small-block with Weiand valve covers.  It's missing a fuel pump, easily stolen from elsewhere.

Another reissue recently announced:

MPC-927 1/25 1934 Slammer Modified Stocker Race Car

MPC34FOrdSlammerMod.jpg.809d8fdefae6f16535b1918cf7f872a6.jpg

I might get one of these and see if I can make something street-legal(-ish) out of it.  Hmmmmmm.....

Here's some inspiration.  A build from Phil Dauphinee where he decapitated that 3-window roof and put it on an AMT '34 5-window body.

Great looking body and interior. The Fuel Pump, might that have been an Electric Fuel Pump on the 1:1 ??

Thanks!  I'll bet you're right and the fuel pump was probably electric, mounted at the tank.  OK, maybe I'll just remove the fuel pump and make that fuel line a little longer...

The LHS and Hobby Lobby will both sell this kit at the full street price, Mark. Retail will not discount the final price just because Round2 cheaps out on the product in the box, sadly.  Can we at least get Printed Tires and a better decals, since it's gonna cost as much as a Better detailed kit?

I hope they choose better Box Art for it.

As far as I remember this IS the original box art for this kit.

I think that white box was the original MPC box art and AMT carried it over.  AMT-ERTL used this box art for the 2006 re-issue.  It's even worse.

No no no no no. I mean like take the bumper bars off it, add lights and a grille shell of some kind, and barely-functional seating for two. Street badassery!

The engine in these is supposed to represent a 427 Chevrolet, or Ford depending on the valve covers used and the intake manifold, the big block Chevy manifolds had the mounting twisted this was supposed to equalize the lengths of the intake runners. Also most classes required that the fuel pump be mounted in the stock position, but a few that were open competition type cars used alcohol for fuel and back then the stock type fuel pumps were borderline for running alcohol in a small block much less a big 467 or thereabouts cubic inch engine and they instead used a belt drive fuel injection pump the only one that is a belt drive pump is the one from the Anglia and Pie Wagon kits with the injected Oldsmobile engine from Revell. There are some front cam drive pumps that you can use, just make a mount off of one head and run a belt drive from the top pulley on the water pump just remember they're a fairly small one in most cases and a dry sump oil pump belt and pulleys from a NASCAR oil pump could be used. These used a 1/2" i. d. Hose from the tank to a a fuel shut off in the drivers cockpit (some engine builders preferred the shut off be between the pump and carb so the pump would keep its prime and not be ran dry.) The line from the pump was usually a 1/2" i. d. also and would run to a fuel log that had two outlet hoses on the side that went directly to each float bowl on the carb, and from the back end of that tube would be a 3/8" i. d. return to the tank. You don't need to do any detail showing it but the return line came from an inline poppet valve that had a spring that would open to prevent the fuel pressure from running over 6-7 psi on the car we ran we drilled a hole in the needle from that valve that aligned with the opening in the seat that would only allow about 1-2psi fuel pressure at idle.

I really like Snake's idea.

At least this has the one piece chassis. It will make it loads easier to build. What ever my misgivings about Price, Tires, Decals, ect., I'll be buying at least a couple of them to build Box Stock. I really like this kind of car. Maybe the other bodies from this series will eventually get released as well.

I don't complain about the prices on these very much. Before they started re-issuing them these were up in the stratosphere prices of over $100 like the Super Stock kits are still bringing. There is one of these that I've never seen re-issued, and that's the Mustang II hatchback version. In fact a lot of people don't remember that one and if I hadn't built it I don't think I would either. They were based on a promo type body I think since the hatch was part of the body instead of a separate piece like the AMT/ MPC versions were done. But I have a few bodies from the street and drag kits for making a new one, I even have one of the Cobra II bodies with the wide body fenders for a Super Speedway version of one of the Dick Anderson cars that Geoff Bodine and Ray Hendricks drove.

Wow, thanks for all the useful information in that post.  Kept it for reference!

I don't see why they wouldn't, unless sales prove to be disappointing. Round2 has already reissued (or soon to be) four of the same kits reissued under RC2:

You may find some extra parts in that '34 Ford Slammer kit.  A bunch of 'em!  I bought my kit open, at a flea market for $5. But all the inner parts bags were still sealed, so none of this extra stuff was added by the previous owner, as far as I could tell.

The photo below shows all the unused parts that were in the box:  3 hoods (one not in the photo); 3 firewalls; 3 engine front covers (one not in the photo); a couple of nice air cleaners; 3 rear interior bulkheads; and a bunch of crash bars for the front, rear and sides.

Before I glued anything on this kit, I went thru the instruction sheet and pulled out the parts for the '34 Ford.  I put all those unused parts in a ZipLoc bag and set them aside.  Otherwise it would have got real confusing in a hurry.

That's the first thought that entered my mind when I saw this thread.
