Listed a few more kits and a couple decals this time around. Please take a look! Chris' emodelcars listings Edited April 27, 2009 by crispy
crispy Posted October 24, 2008 Author Posted October 24, 2008 Just a note for some of you. It costs nothing to sign up to emodelcars.com. You don't have to have pay-pal and there is no spamming messages from there. Listing stuff is free unless you require premium add-ons and even then they are cheap. There is absolutely no charge to buyers to register and look. Once January comes pay-pal is the only forced method on ebay. I know that some of you utilize only M.O. or checks. emodelcars.com accepts those forms of payment as well as many others. I strongly urge you to become a member and start selling/buying. I have about 32 listings on there now and have sold 8 items in the last two weeks.
Aaronw Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I also bought from Chris on emodelcars. It does take a little adjustment to use but was really easy to use once I figured it out. Also Chris must have slipped the postman an extra $5 because his stuff got to me quick.
crispy Posted October 26, 2008 Author Posted October 26, 2008 Hey thanks guys! I appreciate the feedback. I try to run the auctions and ship the stuff as soon as I am paid. Just like how I would like to be treated. Gregg has a great site with emodelcars.com. Free and easy to use. Chris
ismaelg Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I just started listing items for sale at emodelcars.com. It is VERY easy to do, not to mention FREE While I've been "ebaying" for over a decade, I rarely sell. So let's see how it goes. Thanks,
Clay Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I got a question about the shipping, is it something that the buyer has to pay for or is it at the sellers cost?
ismaelg Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 You can specify who pays for the shipping. As a general rule the buyer pays for it. If it is not specified, it is assumed it is the buyer's responsability to pay for shipping.
Aaronw Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Since the site is being discussed, one thing I've run across that puts me off is people having super long auctions, particularly when scattered all over in dates. There have been a few things I've seen and passed on because the end date was 20-30 days off. In one case I would have bought everything one person had listed but one item ended in 3 days, another in 8 and several in 27 days. I have a short attention span, I will forget I even wanted the item after 5 or 6 days. If you are just clearing house of fairly common kits, please consider the Buy out feature as well. If I have to wait more than a week for the auction to end I will probably end up passing.
Aaronw Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I got a question about the shipping, is it something that the buyer has to pay for or is it at the sellers cost? From what I've seen the buyer generally pays shipping, but Gregg is running the site very low key, its not like ebay where they have a lot of rules about how you pay, ship etc. As long as the buyer and seller are happy, people can do what ever they please. There is a spot for the seller to leave comments so payment, shipping etc can easily be negotiated by the seller. If the seller wants to ship by pony express and be paid in shiny rocks and pretty pieces of string they can say so.
ismaelg Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 If the seller wants to ship by pony express and be paid in shiny rocks and pretty pieces of string they can say so. I can't ship pony express unless the pony is a REALLY good swimmer
Aaronw Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I can't ship pony express unless the pony is a REALLY good swimmer Sea Lion express?
crispy Posted October 27, 2008 Author Posted October 27, 2008 Aaron, good call on the dates. I normally run my auctions for a week(7 days) and the way Gregg has it set up you can automatically have it re list your auctions if they don't sell. I run my re-list 10 times and as they get close to ending I just go back in and change it. I've since offered buy out and swap on some of the auctions. Glad to see some people over there. I plan on listing a lot more stuff there later. Chris
crispy Posted October 28, 2008 Author Posted October 28, 2008 Just a note to let you guys know I've added more listings. Check'em out! I've been selling a kit or two a week there so it does work. Chris
crispy Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 Updated and added a few more items. Please check them out!(first post has direct link) Chris
george 53 Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I can Back Up Chris like a brick wall! He's a GREAT trader an a nice guy. I've been tryin to get guys to use Emodelcars since I found it! It sure beats the wazzoo outa the Bay! I've purchased a few kits from Emodel and was VERY happy with it. I've even bought a kit from the Big Kahuna hisself! If you think the postage is TOO hi, just Email the seller, talk to him, and maybe you can work somethin out between the 2 of you. I've done it, an most guys'll be willing to work with you. Try it, You'll LIKE it!
RodBurNeR Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 If money was not so tight right now, I would be shopping around for sure. I just wanted to add that emodelcars is the best site to sell models/related items! It would be nice if we could centralize all of the buyers/sellers to it and stop making other places to do it. If I had time, I would email every person selling models on eBay and give them the link......but it's impossible, so it's up to ALL of us to spread the word... I guess most people don't know about emodelcars or they actually prefer to sell models and buy models on a site that doesn't care about modelers just to be part of the masses..... Hey don't get me wrong, I like to look at other things for auction, so eBay has a lot to look at...but even before Gregg's site , I among some others were emailing eBay and asking them to make their model section a little better so we didn't have to wade through NASCAR decals, diecast and other things JUST to find the stuff we like. emodelcars has it all seperated.....so you don't have to look at anything else, other than what you click on. Let's be honest about one thing.....sorry to make it sound like a rant, but I just want to help the site grow. I feel there are not enough vintage models, junk lots and aftermarket items being sold.....so when are you guys gonna let loose and take a chance? (coming from a guy who doesn't buy much new stuff) carry on.....I hope you make good sales Chris!
crispy Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 Thanks guys! I appreciate the kind words. I've said it before, I sell and accommodate exactly the way I would like to be treated. It's not hard to check out a kit and give an honest description. It's not hard to pack and ship either. Friendly emails and working with the buyer/seller is paramount. I know not all have that philosophy, but those that do make trading/buying, especially at emodlecars, FUN! Now, with that I have a few things for Gregg to check out. When I send an invoice I get an error message instead of a confirmation that the invoice was sent, although the invoice does get sent according to my list of items. Not sure how you have it directly working with pay-pal but I find that the guys who pay via pay-pal never have there address inserted into the payment. I have to manually type that all in and then I am able to print the shipping label. I know I have a few more things to bring up, but right now those are the two major ones. As far as sales go on the site for me, I've been doing perfectly fine. Maybe one to two kits a week or so sell. I get many questions on items and am happy to answer any and all. I enjoy emodelcars and hope the traffic and more sellers come along. I see the site is about to top 300 registered bidders now. Chris
GOTH KUSTOMS Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Well I for one am sick of ebay, so I just signd on to emodelcars, and will check it out for a few and see how it goes. thanks for the tip on a new place to buy, and sell, even auction, things off....
RodBurNeR Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 WAY TO GO UNFORGIVEN! send a link and spread the word!
crispy Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 Hey guys, looks like were about to top 400 registered users. Things are slowly picking up at emodelcars.com! Way to go! There are approximately 181 auctions running now. I've added a couple more items of interest. Some Cobra Colors paint to be exact. Be sure to check it out. Lots of new things being listed, like resin hoods, old kits, magazines and books. Don't be afraid to try and sell some stuff and or bid as well. Here are the current running AUCTIONS Chris
Casey Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 There seem to be some issues when you try to select a Main category while creating a Wanted Ad. I got one ad to work, then the second one will not allow you to change or set the main or addiitional categories- the "Proceed" button is not working, so you end up in an endless loop.
crispy Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 Hi Casey, saw you ad show up while I was there. I too have been trying to set up a wanted ad in the die-cast section to no avail. It's far from ebay, but if you post the wanted ad with a description you'll get it out there regardless of what you post it under or at least posted under something that does work. Hopefully when things start to really pick up Greg can focus on some of the issues. Right now it works and it's free. Chris
