gks1964 Posted June 12, 2020 Author Posted June 12, 2020 What would be a good match for Ford engine blue in Testors or Krylon paints?

gks1964 Posted June 17, 2020 Author Posted June 17, 2020 Using these pix to detail my Boss 429. Are these accurate for the time period? Thanks for the help in advance!!

It should be, the Holley 4500 Dominator was first used on the Boss 429 in NASCAR competition and that engine came 1969. 14 hours ago, gks1964 said: Anyone know the battery location? Not 100% sure but could be in a compartment in front of the left rear wheel as it is now.
gks1964 Posted June 22, 2020 Author Posted June 22, 2020 I can't keep from messing with things! I took Tim's (yellowsportswagen) advice and cast the Johan 429 Torino valve covers and detailed the Polar Lights intake. After I cast a set of valve covers I detailed them with bolt heads and pre-drilled the plug holes. I've already built the dry sump oil pan and oil reserve for this project.

Force Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 I don't know when aircraft style braided hoses with aluminum A/N fittings came into use, probably sometime in the mid 70's
gks1964 Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 Working on the BOSS 429 engine for this car today. Does anyone know of any Boss 429 decals small enough to put on the valve covers? Thanks!!
Bill J Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 (edited) Gerald, Gopher Racing makes a sheet with various under hood markings. Sheet 11065. There are some Boss 429 markings but not sure if they are the size to fit the valve covers on your build. They look small but maybe not as small as you would like. Edited July 22, 2020 by Bill J

gks1964 Posted July 23, 2020 Author Posted July 23, 2020 Am I correct in thinking the H/M wheels in the PL kit would work on this car?
Radar43 Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Gerald, I would use period correct PPP tires and wheels. I think they look and scale to the car just a bit nicer.
yellowsportwagon Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 The Polar Lights wheels will work but PPP wheels are nicer detailed
