Plowboy Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Could someone who has built this kit please measure the wheelbase? I'm thinking about putting one under a '60 F-100 and would like to know if it will work before I buy one. I'm going to make the '60 a short bed. I know the Foose pickup has had the front wheels pushed forward. But, I'm thinking if the wheelbase isn't off too much, I can deal with it.
Mark Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 With the shape of the front wheel openings on the '60, moving the front wheels forward within the opening is to a degree desirable. If you lower the '60 with the wheels kept in the same location fore-and-aft, the lowered position will create an optical illusion that makes the wheel look like it has shifted rearward. I noticed this when I started putting the Foose chassis under a '63 pickup.

bill-e-boy Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 It is common when lowering a car to move the the front wheels forward when you can. This so that the car does not look like it is tripping over itself
Tom Geiger Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 Foose didn’t design or build the real one. His team built it for him from his father’s old truck. It is an old episode of Overhauling you may be able to find
Can-Con Posted June 22, 2020 Posted June 22, 2020 Keep in mind that the front wheel openings on the Foose truck were moved ahead also. But, yea, from the factory, the wheels did sit too far back in the openings on those trucks. The spec sheet on Foose' site says the truck has a 116" wheelbase Here's a link,, https://www.chipfoose.com/chips-56-f100/page/2/
