mchook Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 I just finished my Model A coupe & I had the original chassis sitting there. So I started digging & found enough parts to put this truck together. I'm building a Weaver Auto Crane for it too. This is what I've got so far.
HJK Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 Mark, you're off to a great start, the build looks great so far. May I ask where you got the wheels and the gears for the Weaver crane? Do you have a drawing and dimensions for the crane or is it a kit? I look forward to your update. Take care, Juergen

Take care, Juergen Hi Hans, I found the rear wheels in my parts box I think they're from a diecast. The gears for the crane are from an old pull & go toy car that I took apart. The rest is all styrene. I don't have any plans, I'm just winging it from internet photos. Thanks, Mark
Nazz Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 I'm looking forward to watching this one develop Mark ! Definitely an interesting subject ! You won't see many of these anywhere. It looks like you have a great start on it too. Jerry
mchook Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 I got a little paint & weathering started. Working on the engine now.
AmericanMuscleFan Posted July 31, 2020 Posted July 31, 2020 Superb, realistic, fantastic! The weathering job looks so real that it can be confused with a real rusted truck! I love it... can't wait to see the next update Jay!!!

Take care, Juergen Jergen, I built a Weaver Auto Carne from scratch a couple years ago a have a lot of reference photos and drawings I made while building it. Mine is mounted on a '25 Ford model TT chassis with a wooden cab and tons of detail. If you PM me your email address I will gladly send you as much information as you can possibly need to construct your own Weaver Auto Crane.

It's really nice of you to offer your material on the Weaver Auto Crane. Last year I travelled some states of your great country and in New Mexico I happened to have the opportunity to make a couple of pictures of an old Ford truck with a Weaver Crane in the back. I found out that pictures can be a help in replicating a vehicle or a certain part of it. And even more helpful are lots of pictures from different angles. But I also found that a couple of dimensions can be the key to the right proportions of the part or vehicle. To cut the long story short, yes I would appreciate your offer to send your information. I certainly can give you my email address but unfortunately I don't know what it means to PM you. So, if you can clear the fog I'm in regarding this PM I'll get in contact with you. Thanks again and take care, Juergen
misterNNL Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 (edited) The abbreviation PM is for "personal message" . Sending me your email address using that method keeps your email private between you and I and away from others. This forum offers the personal message service.I am having eye surgery tomorrow morning so it will take a few days to respond. Edited August 4, 2020 by misterNNL Forgotten details
Chariots of Fire Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Tom: Good luck on your surgery. I had cataract surgery on both eyes and what a difference it has made both in clarity and brightness of colors.
mchook Posted August 5, 2020 Author Posted August 5, 2020 (edited) I got the engine almost finished & some interior work done. Edited August 5, 2020 by mchook

HJK Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Wow, Mark, the rust and weathering looks gorgeous! Man, it's simply amazing! Does it still roll or will it sit in the weeds of a diorama? Juergen
AmericanMuscleFan Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 This is fabulous Mark! The extreme weathering looks so real, I do love the green oxidation on the radiator, very nice detail. You have the magic touch sir!!!
Biggu Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 I love the seat stuffing ! Awesome job , weathering is incredibly well done...
mchook Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 Thanks guys. On 8/5/2020 at 7:19 AM, HJK said: Does it still roll or will it sit in the weeds of a diorama? Juergen I guess it could go either way. It's bad enough to be junk but good enough to still use. I got the adjustable tow bar built & it's about finished. I'll get some better pics later & post them under glass. Thanks again everyone for the comments.
misterNNL Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 The solid rear tires on heavy duty wheels are a very appropriate detail. Outstanding all around.
