Snake45 Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 That's not a bad price for a brand-new GL model. DMW has a flat $10 shipping charge, so why not go ahead and get a 2020 Vette and maybe another thing you want they have on sale (they often have 1/24s on sale for $15 and charge the whole thing up against next month's model budget? It's not like you have to renew your subscription to SA. I'm not that wild about the paint scheme or I'd get one. I have C3 Vettes from at least two, maybe three other makers and would like to compare them. I'm looking forward to seeing what other variants follow, as they inevitably will with GL. BTW, take a good look at that DMW link. The model seems to have a (too shallow) L88 type hood in the packaged photos, but a small-block hook in the larger pic. The one in the box also seems to be missing its mirror. Dahell?

Sent the wife a link to give to one of them or herself. I just renewed so I 'll get 6 exciting issues of Tanks & Planes Enthusiast. But seriously, I have bought 3 or 4 1/24s and 3 or 4 1/64s this month and new real car accesories ( vent visors, floor mats [the weathertech type but not brand] and some other doo dads) plus the car itself. I like sleeping indoors so I'll wait. Not like they should be gone. But yeah a batch from DMW is a good idea. THe paint is why I like it - the astronaut vettes. There was one of them in Apollo 13 movie. I think. That was the first time I became aware of it. I sold my DM 70? recently so I need a replacement and that will probably be a reasonable addition above eye level display. And I definitely need more GOLD models in the display. I think I only have one. My 69 SS396 kit may be gold as well. oh yeah, add that and a Tamiya Mustang GT4 to the list of cars this month. One of the display cars has the wire wheels- other has rallys. Yep, dahell? I noticed the wheels earlier and see the hoods are different as well. Preproduction samples I'm guessing? I'll keep looking for OOB photos of it. Greenlight does some weird stuff sometimes. My buddy todd had hte Smokey & Bandit T/A - I don't like it at all. Only other Greenlights I have are 1/64. Maybe I should get hte Astornaut car in 1/64. I don;t have many Vettes in 1/64. Just a thought...lol
randyc Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 (edited) Just did a search -t he real ones were 427s with the wire wheel covers. I may be completely put off if they have rallys. Idk... Edited July 16, 2020 by randyc
Snake45 Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 (edited) A recent issue of one of the aviation magazines--Air & Space or Aviation History, I don't remember which, I buy 'em at Walmart if they have any articles I'm interested in that month--had a story on the astronaut Corvettes, and not just the '69s. I'll see if I can find it in the pile, if you're interested. ETA: Seems to be the June-July 2019 issue of Air & Space. Article's available online. Edited July 16, 2020 by Snake45
randyc Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 I found several articles on the net. All show the wires, L88 hood, 427. Seems like that is an article I looked at as well.
THarrison351 Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 Franklin Mint had a nice one with the wire hubcaps. LE of 427. I see one was sold original asking price was $599.95 plus shipping OBO. Seller took best offer. I have seen them bid to ridiculous prices. Other than the wheels being wrong and wrong for rally wheels too, it's not bad looking and I'm sure I'll find them for $20!

I can't justify that kind of money for my collection in any way. lol. I think these just hit market yesterday. I watched some on ebay and already got an "offer" for 5% off.
Gramps46 Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 I ordered a Greenlight Astro Vette yesterday and next week when I receive it I will do a photo review and a comparison with the FM '69.
