Ford GT40 Honey gold

Recommended Posts

Judging by Plowboys Chevy truck photo I'd say no it's not that close. Not honey enough but more champagne-ish gold.

Zero Piants rendition is quite a ways from that Tamiya at any rate:

I have a personal rule not to trust restored cars when it comes to colors.  But then published photos can vary all over the place too so take your pick.

I would have to say this is pretty close to the Tamiya gold !

Looks pretty close but the real deal doesn't look to be high gloss.  A lot of the race cars of that era didn't have a clear coat on them.  Less paint, less weight.  Remember a gallon of paint weighs about 8 pounds.  Had an interesting discussion with Lee  Holman(Holman-Moody racing) several years ago.  the florescent pink flashes were hardware store rattle cans, his dad sent him out to get just before the race, so there is no reference for the color.
