Scott Colmer Posted July 19, 2020 Posted July 19, 2020 (edited) My father passed away suddenly about three years ago. He was 80. He fell off a rolling stool and hit his head. Bad thing for a guy taking blood thinners. We are cleaning out the house and I found a couple neat things. The one that matters is the card in the photo. It's for the Cal-Neva Timing Association from 1955. My dad had mentioned he was part of a car club. He introduced me to Art Himsel when I was just a little kid. Based on my research, I think he may have been a member of the Concord, CA Accelerators. He had a couple hot rods when he was young. He told me a story about a 34 Ford he had with tuck and roll. He had looked at a magazine article about chopping tops and decided to give it a try. He cut the roof and it fell inside the car. He was pretty discouraged. Then he was revving the flathead and broke the alternator mount. After some time his Grandma. (who he was living with) sent the car to the junkyard. I don't remember him talking about going the to the races. I might have got the story if I found the card while he was still alive. Still, it is a nice piece for the workbench.
