Thanks for having me, everyone. I'm 45 and just now getting back into my childhood hobby, but with more patience lol. I am starting out by locating most of the cars that I have owned or the wife has owned.

I have a quick question though. I have started really paying attention to the bodies. I sand, prime, sand, prime, paint, sand, paint and then wet sand before I attempt a clear coat......is  this common practice?

Also.....do I apply decals before or after the clear coat?  Thank you again, I look forward to being here.

If it works for you, it doesn't matter at all what is common practice. ;)

Hey Brian,

It's all in the preference.  I don't like clear coats myself, but....I think it would be best to put the decal (unless they are really old) under the clear coat.  Keeps everything level.

Decals.. it depends on what the finish of the decal would be in real life.  For instance, racing sponsor stickers are vinyl and have a distinctly different shine than the body. Some racing stripes have a matte finish.  I wouldn’t clear over those.
