Havent done a factory stock for awhile so I thought I would give it a go. Doing it as a car my dad bought new back in 60. He told me that he had bought a 59 Ford just the year before but it was a real dog. When the 352/360 package came out he traded in the 59. This is the first car I remember from my childhood. I was 4 when my dad bought the Starliner and i remember sleeping on the huge back shelf when we went on trips. Its a wonder any of us survived the 60s!

Started with the motor, a 352 ci / 360 hp big block. I noticed in the pic that I forgot the oil dipstick so I added that along with raising the air cleaner about .030". I think the motor in this kit along with the one in the 62 Thunderbird are the best representations of the FE ford motor out there, very detailed and accurate.

Next up, the chassis......

Thanks for looking,

Raisin

60 fords are one of my favorites too :( . Nice start on the engine.

Car memories from the past are really cool. I built a model of my first car, just a few month's ago, and love to sit and just look at it.

All the best - The Treehugger :D

Heres a pic of the chassis for the Starliner. This a beautifully detailed chassis straight out of the box, but I added fuel and brake lines along with a parking brake assembly made from evergeen stock and craft wire. Tires are from the AMT 58 Edsel, and the factory full wheel covers are from Modelhaus.

Been a long time since I was able to make any headway on my models. Went back to work the begining of Dec. (YAY!) and its cut into my modeling time.

Anyways, I painted and foiled the Starliner for the second time. This is a replica of the car my Dad bought new in '60 and after doing the first body I noticed in my pics that his car didnt have the rocker panel trim. Back to the drawing board! I did a second body removing the molding. Now I dont know what to do with the first!

Paint is Tamiya

Nice build so far Michael!!

I love this particular year of Ford especially their hardtops...........so low and sleek-----much better than what GM was doing for '60.

Are those hubcaps Modelhaus items? I have this kit and only see the dog dishes, unless the new release has 'em.

Oh, and congrats on the job return! :D

Thanks Bill, yes the caps are from Modelhaus. Probably my biggest complaint about this great kit is that it doesnt come with full wheel covers.

I certainly agree with you about the 60 Ford styling. I think GM tended to "overdo" most of their designs. They would take a good idea and "overstyle" it.

A description I heard once of the 60 Starliner pretty much nails it.............."They took a 59 Chevy and did it right"

Its been a long dry spell for building here. My father passed unexpectedly and my heart just wasnt in it. The fact that this is a replica of one of his favorite cars from the past didnt make it any easier. I did however get back to the bench this week and made some progress. Finished the interior and most of the engine bay.

Thanks for looking,

Raisin

Bill,

Norm has cast the more accurate '60 Ford wheel cover from the Hubley '60 in unplated resin. You will have to ask him to cast a set, as they are not listed in his line, as well as the Foxcraft skirts, which I used on my convertible.

P.S. That is one goergeous '60 Starliner.
