cruiser66 Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Had this kit in the stack long enough. No decision on color or anything else. I generally build them box stock, and Im sure this one will follow along mindlessly. I already prepped the body and critical parts. there was a few defective marks in the passenger side door panel. I also scraped and sanded off the copy right and made in china marks underneath. first time I ever did that, even though im not building to enter any contests.
Slotto Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 (edited) That's cool. I built that back in the 90s then tore it down and rebuilt it in 2017. Great kit Edited August 23, 2020 by Slotto
cruiser66 Posted August 26, 2020 Author Posted August 26, 2020 all primed with white duplicolor. engine went together like a dream. looks like this might be a very nice kit to work on.
espo Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Looks good at this point. Was this the engine in the kit ? this looks like a much newer Ford small block and injection setup.

I get to do anything I want as it's not period correct. ( I build them that way anyhow.lol )

On the outside chance that you wanted to back date the engine a four barrel carb. and manifold could put it back to 1963 when Ford started the small block anyway.
cruiser66 Posted August 26, 2020 Author Posted August 26, 2020 chassis done. hardly any problems this time. I think because this is a 1/24 size kit, the parts are slightly larger and easierto handle. I only dropped stuff a couple hundred times and found them quickly.?
cruiser66 Posted September 2, 2020 Author Posted September 2, 2020 painting started. not sure Im going to keep this color combo but im trying to use paints on hand.
Deuces ll Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Looks like a very beautiful kit..... And I like that Mustang "fuelie" motor.... ??
cruiser66 Posted September 3, 2020 Author Posted September 3, 2020 changed the interior parts color to red. green just didnt do it for me. I used testors wet look clear. only one coat as it looks okay and when I dont stop I usually screw it up. All is well so far. I should be finished in a couple days.
ksnow Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Now the interior matches the engine. I like the red better. The green was definitely a statement color. I love the exterior color.

espo Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 The Red interior looks much better. Didn't want to say anything about the Green, just thinking it's your choice.

ksnow Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 Oh, that is going to look great. Can't wait to see that finished.
cruiser66 Posted September 5, 2020 Author Posted September 5, 2020 This is my first pickup truck and I have to say what a cool model. The box art and the parts all laid out for prep and paint don't give a clue as to how fantastic the complete model looks. It is now my favorite model on my shelf even with a few minor hiccups along the way.
bisc63 Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Nice job; that gray really works on that body!
ksnow Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 That turned out very nice. That grey is sharp and the red interior is just enough contrast.
cruiser66 Posted September 6, 2020 Author Posted September 6, 2020 thanks for the nice comments everyone.....?
Slotto Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 Very nice. Glad you switched to red seats.
Modlbldr Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Nice build of a classic old kit! The colors compliment each other very well. Cleanly done. Later-
