Slotto Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 (edited) Today I made up some distributors with leeds. I ran across an old PS2 mouse so I thought I'd take it apart. Inside were 7 different colored wires about the same scale size used for spark plug wires. I took a trip to the craft store and scored some necklace fasteners. This serves as the distributor. I stripped the mouse cord to liberate the wires and cut them down to size. Then I super glued the wires in place. I like to mix it up sometimes and match the wires with the car body color. Whatcha think? Edited August 28, 2020 by Slotto
Tom Geiger Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 They look good but I hope your wires are long enough. I make some with aluminum tubing that I cut to length with a small hobby tubing cutter. I leave mine pretty long, I can always stuff it into the engine block or cut it shorter but not the other way!

Thanks guys, Tom, they all range between 1 1/2" to 2" long. They are plenty long enough

One suggestion, they have holes in the bottom, which look good to mount on straight pins. I stick in and then glue a straight pin as a mount. Just cut the pin to length with wire cutters Edited August 29, 2020 by Tom Geiger
Super28 Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Thanks for sharing. never thought about the necklace fasteners ! Cool!
OldNYJim Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Those necklace fasteners look promising - do you have any info on the manufacturer or a part number?
Slotto Posted September 3, 2020 Author Posted September 3, 2020 Sorry, I do not. I don't remember where I got them either. Maybe Walmart, a.c. Moore. Michaels?
Painted Black Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 (edited) I know it's most likely a personal thing, as I see it on real cars, but why the black coil wire? PS it looks like the green one is short one wire!! Edited September 3, 2020 by Painted Black
Slotto Posted September 3, 2020 Author Posted September 3, 2020 I dunno why the black wire. It just happened that way ?. All of the green wires are there.

peteski Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 While it makes wiring a model engine easier, it really doesn't look anything like a scale distributor. I guess it all depends on how accurately you want your model to look.
