Dodge Driver Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 (edited) I've acquired the kit below as a base for an American medium-duty truck. I'm thinking a Resin Model Ranch 38 Chevy could build into the green and black truck below. Note that the 1:1 truck is a '39 model. Any opinions on what this project entails are welcome. Casey Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 (edited) I did the same to use with the Revell '41 Chevy pickup...well, the cab and engine from the '41, at least. Hasn't progressed at all, and the Blitz isn't on the same level as the Revell '41bin most areas, but they will work together just fine after some work. The Blitz's engine seems huge to my eyes, but I'm not all that familiar with what it represents. Fortunately, the '41s engine is excellent, and will likely pass for what you are planning. dodgefever Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 (edited) The Opel Blitz used a metric tooled version of the 216ci Chevy engine, so it should be about the same size in scale, notwithstanding the 1/24 to 1/25 difference. From what I remember, the Opel chassis isn't really accurate for a US truck, and the wheels are totally wrong, having a much larger European PCD. Edited September 5, 2020 by dodgefever
stitchdup Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 I'm sure the opel I built had different wheels to the box art but it was a while ago and the model is long gone. I seem to remember the wheels were more of a spoked look (not wires)
Chariots of Fire Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 I wouldn't waste my time with the Blitz. Not even close. Yes, the '41 Chevy P/U is basically the same cab. Take a look at the '37 Ford P/U. It has similar fenders and the headlights are separate like the Chevy above. Not a lot of re-shaping would be necessary to create the Chevy grill. All said, you've got your work cut out for you.
