Hopefully mother cat will return . It's unusual for a mum to abandon her brood , regardless of the circumstances .

I'm pretty sure the momma cat is gone for good-either that stray dog chased her off into the woods (thats what im telling my wife) or more likely that dog killed her. I could just be narrow minded about her fate and blaming the dog when there could be many scenarios that could have happened to her.. One theory I have  -but keep to myself is a hawk. The circle of life and all that. I've had  people tell me that its wrong of us to have outdoor cats because they kill and eat song birds. I understand that sediment but    a cats kill ration of    small birds is about 10:1---for every 10 birds they stalk 9 get away. Some times that door swings the other way and the cats get stalked by hawks, we also have a large rafter of wild turkeys, which are mostly docile but I have seen them get aggressive and intimidate the cats. And for the record----turkeys can fly.

Here's a shot of the kittens exploring their new world-there are 7 of them , all black, and its near impossible to get a picture of all of them together. I cut the spade shaped hole in the building with a chain saw years ago so  the cats can come and go at will-fairly safe from predators and they are out of the weather. I am going to be super protective of them because people are such dickheads about black cats-slow and cautious about who we give any of them to

Exactly : animals acting like... animals. That's how it's supposed to work , as heartbreaking as it is (ergo , the kittens' mum disappearing) .

Those solid-back chatons look like they're having fun ! Thank you for caring for your animal companions ?

Hey John ,sorry to hear about Oliver. I have a good idea how you feel as we lost our dog Kodi  Easter weekend. On a happier note, congrats on Busters new arrival. I am sure he will keep you busy . We also have a new member of our family. This is Diesel. Sorry for the large pic.

My friend still has his 3, though I did get this pic from him tonight.........don’t ask me what he did to get that look, but Dad and we’re both just about rolling at it?

Handsome companion ! It would appear that he's licking his chops or has an itch . Thanks much for sharing !

That, or more likely, my friend didn’t share his dinner with him, last time he refused to share the sub he was eating with that cat, the cat gave him the sort of look that would have had me checking my shoes for the rest of the month?

I’m not going to post it, but he bought some Little Cesars the other night and I got a video of the cat licking it’s lips and giving the biggest brownest puppy dog eyes a cat can muster, all while trying to grab some from my friend. . That cat will eat anything food like if he can and will beg, then just straight up try and take it if it’s left alone within reach if you leave him hangin’!

New photos of my feline superior . He's really growing ; almost 5 months old now !

I finally settled on naming him 'Tao' , which was his original name . It fits him well . I also call him 'Hunter' and 'Soldier' ; the latter because of his mannerisms and positions , as you'll see in the photos .

This is Kitty, i got her when she was 8 weeks old for my 2 boys. Kitty is probably the most playful cat I've ever seen

Gorgeous little Siamese heart ! I love her 'Jelly Beans' ( colloq. for paw pads ) !

Tao is part-Siamese --- the lithe body , long slender tail , and toes which curl . I'll bet that Kitty is a vocal girl ?

Yes she is and she plays like nothing i have ever seen. A friend of mine found them in a box on side of the road in a wooded area, it was a momma cat and 4 kittens about 3/4 weeks old.

Tao is a good looking cat. I'll bet he's playful..

What a handsome boy ! It's amazing how quickly they grow within the first few months ; like , virtual overnight growth spurts !

Too bad that he left (hopefully it was on his own volition) . Thank you for helping him along during a vital time in his growth ❤️ .

Yeah, one night he brought home a friendly friend... Then when I let them both out, that was the last time I seen him.... Hope he's doing ok at his new home....???

I hope so , too . I'd be a crazy cat lady if I could ! Haha .

Ron Asheton ( Stooges , Ron Asheton's New Order ) was a feline fancier . Not only do I enjoy Ron's guitar (and bass) playing , but I admire him for being a lover of our animal superiors .

Here's some recent photos of Tao ( a/k/a , "Tao Potatoe" , a/k/a , "Love Bug" ) . The Egyptian Mau bloodlines are becoming more obvious with age ( "Gooseberry Green" eye colour -- a Mau-specific shade-- ; his "Tail Talking" [ folklore has it that the Mau used its tail to lure snakes so that the cat could kill them before the snakes could enter the cat's guardian's home ] ; his "Hand Talking" ; and his 'sharp' Mau cry and vocalisations ) .

I had a little fun last night with a couple of photo editing / meme-generating programs ; I made this album cover and title spoof . I placed images of my cats over the images of Chris Hillman , Roger Mc Guinn , and Michael Clarke , and modified the title of the album :

I finally got a decent photo of the 'curled toes' which Tæo exhibits on a regular basis . He is the first domestic cat I've ever seen which curls its toes ! His hands are of "unusual" structure as well ; his thumb is closer to his fingers than a regular cat's .

He lays almost perfectly-flat ( I call him 'Soldier' when he does that , as that pose reminds me of a soldier's 'ground-position' when firing a rifle --- somebody please correct my nomenclature , out of respect and for accuracy ) .

Without further ado :

Gosh John, reading of your loss brought a tear to my eye as I’m a huge lover of cats and can personally relate to your experience. I had a cat named Kira since I was a little kid and had to put her down when I was in my early twenties. I remember how empty my heart felt.

I think Tao looks like a great cat, and by the looks of the pictures it appears he’s feeling right at home with his new best bud.

Your post has inspired me to start a new one titled ‘Show us your cat’, so if you want to see my current two you’ll have to check them out there.... here’s to wishing you and Tao a long and rich companionship!

Thanks much for your thoughtful reply .

Tæo is a lovebug for sure ! He's not very vocal , unless he's chasing something .

I'll check out your Show Us Your Cat thread .
