LDO Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 I got a screamin’ deal on a gluebomb/unfinished build. I was looking at the engine and transaxle, thinking that is one good looking gearbox. Then it hit me; cannibalize this thing to make a model of a drawing by Larry Wood. (He was a Hot Wheels designer) I don’t know how to save a picture from Instagram, so his drawing is a screen shot. If I chop up this Lola, I will separate the engine from the gearbox and use the engine from Revell’s 1/12 2010 GT 500. That’s what I would use if I built this in real life.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 Do it. Really cool design, certainly worth building. Better yet, invest in a little silicone mold goo and cast yourself a replica, save the original.
JollySipper Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 I say do it! Anything Hot Wheels inspired is bound to be cool......
DonW Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 It's your model but I know which car I prefer.?
Dave Van Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 I have always wanted to build a THX 1138 version....

We can talk curbside/slammer Lola T-70. I want the transaxle and rear suspension parts. Btw it’s missing wheels and tires. Edited September 17, 2020 by LDO
DonW Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 Fair enough. I can't help feeling that the rod with those tiny front wheels and huge rears with all that power and weight in the back just looks as though it would go straight on at any corner as soon as you touched the loud pedal! But please ignore me as I'm just an old curmudgeon!☺️

There is some historical precedent...
DonW Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 Oh yes the old UOP Shadow. And now I look closer, the sketches of the 'T' do seem to show a similar large front wing, mostly chopped off by the edge of the image, so that makes it more sensible, if that's the right word for a fad T F1 car!
LDO Posted September 17, 2020 Author Posted September 17, 2020 More screen shots from Instagram. Someone started to build a real version. I don’t know if it progressed beyond these photos.
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 Looks like the designer may have been thinking old Pontiac Tempest transaxle, and the builder used the 2-speed auto version...
