Captain Spaulding Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 Getting ready to start my next project Monogram's 1939 Chevy Coupe Street Rod. Built this kit once over 20 years ago and recently got this one off Facebook Marketplace unopened for 10 dollars. Haven't decided on colors yet, need to see what I have in my paint stash.
Jantrix Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 The fit of the rear fenders to the body can be kinda wonky. Some judicious sanding around those areas is recommended. Also the inline 6 from the Monogram 53' Chevy fits very nicely in there. Enjoy.
Captain Spaulding Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 Got the frame finished yesterday, went together pretty simply. Didn't care for the kit supplied rim's so raided my parts box. Thinking of painting the body red with black fenders.
bobthehobbyguy Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Nice start. One tip. Test fit the body to the fenders with the interior piece I've had issues with the fit of the rear fenders because the interior piece is too tall and needs a bit of triming.

Thanks for the tip pal, I've noticed it's a bit of a tight fit, fit's better than the one I did years ago. 6 hours ago, bobthehobbyguy said: Nice start. One tip. Thanks for the tip pal, noticed when I was test fitting things were a little snug.
Captain Spaulding Posted December 1, 2020 Author Posted December 1, 2020 Got some more work done after taking a few days away from working on the Chevy. Motor is assembled and painted and body has been painted. Haven't decided on the interior color yet, any suggestions?
misterNNL Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Interior color will sort of depend on how much interest you want it to get. I suggest a buffed flat black for a dark less noticeable interior or consider a couple shades of leather tones for more interest.. I built this kit the first year it was released(kit # 244-200,circa 1968) that I also painted red and it still brown interior. Yikes...that was 52 years ago! Man I must be getting almost middle aged.

I'm thinking of going with flat black, this kit has very little in details when it comes to the interior and after searching through my parts box I don't have any parts to add to help it stand out.
Captain Spaulding Posted December 2, 2020 Author Posted December 2, 2020 Stuck everything together to get an idea of how it will look, liking the color combo. Decided to go with black for the interior
Captain Spaulding Posted December 4, 2020 Author Posted December 4, 2020 Got a little more done, body is glued to the chassis and the interior is finished with a few extras from my parts box. Nothing fancy but it works. Hoping to do the chrome on the body over the weekend then final assembly.
TransAmMike Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Looking good there Jason, cna't go wrong with the black interior. And the red and black body looks great.

Got the chrome done today and the body all together, next day or so should be finished and posted in the under glass section.
