Jon Haigwood Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 One of the club ,members maybe starting up a T.R.O.G build off. I never build 4 cylinder engines but thought about it for this one. The AMT 27 Model T kit comes with a 4 Banger wit an overhead valve conversion. Is this period correct for T.R.O.G. or did it come about in later years ?
Mark Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 The Frontenac overhead valve conversion dates back to the early Twenties, if not earlier. Developed and sold by the Chevrolet brothers (Louis Chevrolet was only associated with his namesake car company in its first couple of years of existence).
Bernard Kron Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 Overhead valve conversions for Ford and Chevy motors go back at least to the early 1920's so no problem being T.R.O.G.-worthy.
Jon Haigwood Posted November 28, 2020 Author Posted November 28, 2020 Thanks for the replies . Looks like I will be building a 4 Banger Thanks Again
Russell C Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 (edited) Good info & links in this older thread, including Frontenac stuff: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/137781-educate-me-on-model-t-speed-equipment/ Edited November 28, 2020 by Russell C
Muncie Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 you're good, rules here Race Entry Wildwood — T.R.O.G (theraceofgentlemen.com) It's down the page a bit. Aftermarket OHV conversions are OK on four cylinder engines
Tom Geiger Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 (edited) I went to TROG last year and was disappointed it didn’t happen this year. There are the rules, but still you’ll see cars with glass and lights running. Here’s my photos, note that the first group of photos are cars that were just in the car show on the beach. https://public.fotki.com/ModelCitizen/11_car_reference_library/car-shows-and-cruis/trog-the-race-of-ge/ Edited November 29, 2020 by Tom Geiger
