I have an amt Firestone 1978 ford pickup and the bottom bed piece is warped. Is there anyway to unwarp it?  Right now i have it taped flat but last time i did that, it didn't help. i have also used hot water and it shrunk the piece

Any help is appreciated

Hot water is safer than a hair dryer. If you get too close thus too hot with a dryer you can make the plastic brittle. The key though is to get some tension in the plastic beyond center, so if it's warped or twisted to the right put in tension to the left as it heats. When it cools and you release whatever means was holding it while heat it will hopefully come back to at least somewhat neutral. Enough that it won't fight gluing up.

Warped bed parts are not uncommon on this kit, especially the bed floor since it doesn't have any wheel houses attached to give it some rigidity. After you attach the bedsides it should square up and the floor should flatten out. Maybe use some long reach tweezers to clamp the bed floor to the frame rails (all on a flat surface) while assembling the bed.

I've had good luck lately unwarping parts by putting them in the steam from a kettle for 8-10 seconds and then bending them the other way, just past center, for about 30 seconds. Experiment to see what works for you.

i tried to use a hairdryer while it was taped and i tried to twist it back. unfortunately neither helped. I tried gluing the pieces to it to straighten it out, and it is pretty good, but not perfect. however, its as good as its going to get now that i glued it in place. i actually put it back in the box and im going to work on the gmc pickup from revell/monogram instead. although i prefer the look of the ford more, the revell/monogram looks to be like a much more detailed kit.

its going to be part of my 2021 big diorama that i have planned
