TransAmMike Posted January 7, 2021 Posted January 7, 2021 I have wanted to build a '57 Sedan Delivery for a long time and I know there were a couple of resin conversions available but apparently that is no longer the case. Anyone have any ideas here??

There's no really good Nomad kit available, and if there were, you'd have to re-do the whole rear end, as it's completely different between the Nomads and the wagons/SDs. Just realized, OP didn't mention make, just year. I think you could do a '57 Ford SD without too much trouble.
TransAmMike Posted January 7, 2021 Author Posted January 7, 2021 '57 Chevy. I'm sure Nomad kit could be reworked but as you said Richard, the Nomad kits are less than ideal for sure.
TransAmMike Posted January 7, 2021 Author Posted January 7, 2021 I did a bit of googling about doing a Nomad/Sedan Delivery coversion on 1:1 cars and actually found people asking the same about real cars. It would be a huge if not almost impossible undertaking. Different doors, rear section, chassis, Nomad lower roof and with the ribs, door glass and windshield. So no, Nomad won't do.
Casey Posted January 7, 2021 Posted January 7, 2021 The Nomad would have the slightly lower coupe roofline anyway, so no good for a sedan delivery. There is an existing topic here on the forum regarding the various roof height of the Tri-Five Chevies, so a search should pull it up. I would post a Wanted ad on the forum, and keep your eyes peeled on eBay. If you've already done the research regarding who made a resin cast '57 sedan delivery, you can watch eBay using those keywords, too. You could also combine an existing Tri-Five sedan delivery body with the Revell '57 black Widow kit, which is a great starting point IMHO.
espo Posted January 7, 2021 Posted January 7, 2021 I would try and find a Resin SD from the Modelhaus. Someone may still have one and having built on of their '56 SD they look just like the real thing. The problem is they have been out of business for a few years so it may be expensive if you can even find one. Option two, and far more reasonably priced would be Star Models. Steve at Star models can be found on this site in the directory in the resin parts area. He offers good products and has models you didn't even realize that you needed.
Snake45 Posted January 7, 2021 Posted January 7, 2021 Here's a 1/24 diecast: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Racing-Champions-1999-Hot-Rod-101-57-Chevy-Sedan-Delivery-Limited-Edition-1-24/254740015016?hash=item3b4fb027a8:g:3LYAAOSwVRBfeynV
TransAmMike Posted January 8, 2021 Author Posted January 8, 2021 Thanks for the replies guys. Yes Star does have a '56. A '57' is likely now non-existant. Oh well.

Just a thought if you really want a '57 Delivery and can't find one. Get the '56 Delivery and combine it with a '57 body. This would depend on your comfort level with such surgery but there are many here that have done this sort of conversion and I'll bet they'll be more than happy to offer tips and guidance along the way.

Sounds like a solution but considering totally different front cap and rear section if even possible it's waaaaay beyond my capabilities, but thanks for the suggestion.

The worst part of the old reissued Revell Nomad is the rear end. It needs to be reworked just to be a decent Nomad. Just realized, OP didn't mention make, just year... Ummm...thread title: '57 Chevy Sedan Delivery
