Nick F40 Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 (edited) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HXvSsoYwio...feature=related now that's grassroots I thought you guys might like this. Now this is what I call a hillclimb, these are my kind of people! See, that's how you drive old cars. The 69 Camaro part is the one I think is funny, that would be me, he's got some sense, he DRIVES it, my hero. the second one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-GcHNl2aiA...feature=related at 00:40 the bike sounds like its going 200mph and its going like 5... MrObsessive Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 That WAS hilarious!! The guy with the bike had me dying laughing! I've never seen someone have to "help" a motorcycle get up the hill! What kind of car was that in the first clip at 2:00? It looks like something European, yet it had fins and a wraparound windshield. Opel maybe? Another one that cracked me up was the little Beetle that putters right up there with no effort, while the others are slippin' and slidin' around like crazy!
Randy Kern Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Bill, that car you're wondering about sure looks like a Vauxhall Victor, late '50s or early '60s, and was a GM subdivision in Britain. My favorite in the first video is the small black car with the wailing siren! Also, that flamed '58 Olds would be a lot faster de-chromed!
george 53 Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 WoW Nick, that was cool! where was it held? looks like it would be fun!
old-hermit Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 The mopeds were kinda anticlimatic but the blown '61 Chevy was AWESOME. I learned to drive in a '61 Impala.
Joe Handley Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 What was up with the driver of that Rambler?

I knew it was something late '50's/early '60's but wasn't sure of the make. Looks as though GM's styling cues were kinda widespread weren't they! That little black car with the crazy siren looked like an old Ford Cortina maybe? It was so denuded of chrome (and bumpers) that it's hard to tell! I'm surprised that '58 Olds even got up the hill it's so heavy!!
Modellpularn Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Ok guys, this hillclimb was held here in Stockholm Sweden, called Heron Hillclimb. sponsored by Wheels magazine. This was from a few years back. The bigger car you're wondering about is an Opel Kapitän, and the small one with siren is an Opel Kadett.
Randy Kern Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Bill, you were closer with your guess! When Nick first showed that to me, I wondered where in the world that took place, with such varied vintage iron. Thanks for clearing that up, Hans. Were you the guy on that moped?
Modellpularn Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I was about to enter in 2007 with my El Camino, had to have seat belts, didn't find any..... oh well, some other time maybe...or ?
Nick F40 Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 I would love to go to this, definetly a worhtwile, I like this hillclimb. It's just seems like a good time. and the cars, oh man, just pure awsome! That moped is just hilarious, and it's like what some others said, it's funny how the 2002 and the Beetle just putter up the hill
