Very nice build! Looks good in black. I like simple kits like that. My first AMT kit was a '58 Imperial convert, back in 1958!

Thanks, Sam. Yeah, I love these basic kits. I like the '58, the front grill treatment looks less fussy than the '59.

That looks great. I might have to copy it. ? I have a couple in the store room. Why I haven't built it I do not know.

Thanks, David. It's one of those kits I want to get a couple more of! There's a few different colours and versions I want to do.

Since the 1958s were mentioned here are mine. These are promos, notice the warping.

And a more refined 1960.

I think the 59 was the wildest chrome buggy.

I like that green four door. Red with a black boot was one of the colours I was thinking of doing, I'll probably use that combo on the next one I build.

The danger of this, as well as having a catalog of 60 year old tooling, is that consumers often don’t understand.

Someone buys a kit that was recently tooled with intricate parts and full detail, and then the next box they open is this Chrysler tooled up in 1959! A big difference in both what was possible and expected back in the day vs current technology.

There have been the challenges of consumers screaming bloody murder that they’ve been taken.  There was a guy on the boards a couple years ago that got the Model King version of this kit and complained that Model King kits were garbage and he’d never buy another.  It took some explaining!

Seeing this, and similar concerns mentioned elsewhere has made me start to wonder if it might be wise if all the manufacturers started putting the approximate original release of the model in the box on the box someplace with some kind of boilerplate like "Model design technology has advanced considerably. This kit will provide a different experience for the builder than kits designed after approximately 1990." A simple disclaimer to help curb a lot of the problems.

Oh...and nice job. One small note: from my reading, the off-white interior would have been paired with black, although these were the days when almost anything within reason could be done simply for asking, and occasionally a small charge. I love this kit...have three more to build, including a Paul Hettick LeBaron 4-door sedan.

Thanks, Charlie. I was going to go with black on the interior instead of the beige, looking at it now I wish I did, but at the time I saw one on Google images with a tan and white interior that I liked. Yeah, I'd love for Round2 to release more forgotten promo models but as mentioned it would be quite the surprise for someone expecting modern tooling. A "Promo Series" would be great like the "Snap-tite" series they do, you know what you're getting with Snap-tite kits.
