Mr mopar Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 I don't like the chassis of the MPC '72 GTO is there some other chassis i could use ? Help
Snake45 Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 Revell '68-'69 Chevelle, or AMT '69 4-4-2, for two. But frankly, the body and interior of that kit aren't worthy of an updated chassis, IMHO.
Oldcarfan27 Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 My favorite for that era is the MPC 69 Olds 442, but I've heard others say the Revell 72 Olds works well too.
Fat Brian Posted April 11, 2021 Posted April 11, 2021 The AMT 69 olds chassis fits really well. There is still a lot more to polish on that turd though.
John1955 Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 As much as I love the '72 GTO, quite frankly, I agree with another member above about maybe it's not worth the effort of trying to make another chassis work when the body and interior aren't exactly accurate either. Although Round 2 issued it as an AMT branded kit, it's an MPC kit.

Fat Brian Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 The most egregious problem to me is the way the holes for the headlights aren't the same shape as the actual headlight pieces or real headlights. I'm going to strip the plated parts and glue them in and fill the voids with putty to fix it. Then either foil or Molotow for the bezels.
Tabbysdaddy Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 I put a little work into the chassis that comes with it to make it look better.
MeatMan Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 One problem is that the interiors on the Chevelles have the floor pans attached, and you add the side panels. The idea I had for that is attached, but the detail of the interior panels is not very good. You can add your own detail if you are so inclined though. Other than that the interior is a perfect fit.
