Tim432 Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Gotta ask what the wall hanging is that has "Zee Bee" on it on that back wall?
The Modeling Hermit Posted June 4, 2021 Author Posted June 4, 2021 I've progressed to the point that building construction is complete. My attention will now focus on machinery building and placement as well as details and finalizing lighting. These are photos that I've taken to give me closeups of areas that need attention. I like to take these as an aide in future development and planning. 1
Anglia105E Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 These photos are stunning, Douglas...... They are very atmospheric, and I particularly like the shots taken upstairs. I like the way your camera walks you round the inside of the workshop areas, as though you were a 1:24 scale person ( or 1:25 scale ). This project of yours interests me because that is exactly the way I like to build and photograph my dioramas, by getting right inside the building. David
The Modeling Hermit Posted June 7, 2021 Author Posted June 7, 2021 The secretary now has light and a ceiling, as well as a desk and computer. The end is in sight.
The Modeling Hermit Posted June 10, 2021 Author Posted June 10, 2021 The office is now complete and the crane is also finished. All of the lighting is on dimmer control, and when I take the final photos, I'll need to dim the office light. It is giving our poor secretary premature white hair. This doesn't look like much for several hours work, but cutting and gluing all those little clutter papers takes forever. 2
Anglia105E Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 I like the views looking into the office, Douglas, which give the viewer a good impression of the two figures at work. You have got the lighting just right inside the elevated office, and the piles of papers are exactly how you would expect to see them in a workshop office setting..... Excellent ! David
The Modeling Hermit Posted June 11, 2021 Author Posted June 11, 2021 I can call the construction of this project, completed. There will still be things added over its future, as with all dioramas, so the overall diorama can never be officially called, finished. I spent 12 hours on it today working on the electrical conduits, adding a safety chain by the hoist opening on the upper level, and other detail items. I have now entering into the position of joining artists from all history who have, when completing their project, looked upon it with wondrous contemplation, and asked the timeless question, “Where am I going to put this monstrosity?”
The Modeling Hermit Posted June 11, 2021 Author Posted June 11, 2021 I will get better photos and make up an album which I will then place in the under glass section. I have a video up on youtube now, and will also make a 'completed' when I place the photos under glass.

Used to love seeing your little shop and scenes back in the day! I like making puzzles, this looks like some of the car and truck ones I’ve done, and would love to see that one done, about 1000 pieces would do! Edited November 12, 2021 by hct728(Bob)
Bills72sj Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 Your talent for weathering and composition is very impressive. It will be interesting to see future progress on what additional items you will add over time to bring the level of typical clutter to match the advanced age of a shop of this vintage. The paper stacks are a brilliant indication of this.
Ian McLaren Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Great job with fantastic attention to detail. Well done!
