Brutalform Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Ive read that the AMT 62 Dyno Don car has the "corrected" grill, as compared to the previous two S/S Bel Airs. Does anyone have both grills that they could please post a pic of them showing the difference? It would be much appreciated, as I only have grills from the two previous Bel Airs.
Snake45 Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 I noticed when the kit was first introduced that the peaks at the front fenders were rounded off, where they should be sharp. I don't know if this is what's being talked about or not, but if it is, the body would have to be corrected too.

The original AMT issue (blue car on box, plus the Strckler and Proffitt S/S cars) came with a grille that almost looked like the old J.C. Whitney tube grilles. Newer releases havea corrected grille.

Thanks Ken. So basically the Dyno Don car is the only one with a correct looking grill? I do have a couple of these grills, but they look exactly alike. I did build the Dyno Don car a while back, but sold it, and now I can’t compare the two. I’m pretty sure the two I do have are from the first two S/S kits though. I wonder if the Impala convertible kits are also the corrected grill? Edited May 14, 2021 by Brutalform
64Comet404 Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 The convertible has the corrected grille included, as well as the Northwind S/S kit.

All the kits released after the mistake was corrected have the correct grille. That's pretty well all the ones after the first 2 drag kits and the stock kit with the blue Modelhaus resin builtup on the box.
Brutalform Posted May 14, 2021 Author Posted May 14, 2021 Thanks for clearing this up for me everyone. Much appreciated.
Force Posted May 14, 2021 Posted May 14, 2021 The later body also have the chrome trim around the edge of the rear panel missing on the first issues of the Bel Air.
