A little more completed. A lot of masking . Painting the tubes orange. Rollbar framework etc. I thought the blue with orange tubes on the car would be a striking contrast.

Painting the tubes orange was the right move Bruce, striking effect!

For me there's a Zen state to doing that kind of masking. It's second only to detail painting.

Ok, I have to admit that I do not like long tailed Porsches. To me they look weird. John Wyer did not like them either. He hacked off a long tail to make the iconic short tail version. I am going to also hack off a few inches of this tail. Going to make papercard prototype wings to see how it looks. Doing a lot of prototypes before I hack up a $600 kit. Thank you Claude for the idea of making the rear wheel opening more round. Already looks a lot better.

So it looks like your plan is to cut tail off where it kicks back up near the end?

That could give it a smoother look, closer to the original Porsche body profile.

I think your mock up demonstrates a talent for automobile design — as you can see, it is strikingly similar to what the Porsche designers, paid handsomely, came up with decades after the long tail left the scene, lol. I should add that I like your treatment of the bottom part of the cutoff, whether intentional or just the way the plastic sheet fell.

Seriously, it’s either that, or you have subliminally taken an image in your mind of the 935/19 and incorporated it in your first cut.

Looking forward to seeing the details of how you do the work (if you go that way).

I'd love to think I helped. lol.

Also, I just noticed the rear wheel arch... it's rounded like your friend suggested, but certainly rounder than he was envisioning. IIRC, symmetry with the front arch was what he was suggesting, an idea I immediately liked. I think it's true that certain design concepts are universally pleasing to the eye, and symmetry is chief among them.

This is a great build to watch. Wishing you heaps of "mojo" 'til the end.

The essence of the 935/78 is the long tail. It is the ultimate expression  the group 5 styling & excess. The 935/78 is outrageously excessive. Not pretty but damn interesting. The MFH's tail looks quite accurate and with efforts normalizing such an abnormal car you might lose the wild look that is the DNA of this car.
