This is my second completed model kit, and my first completed semi tractor. This was built around November of last year. Being the snap kit, it was good practice to develop skills and techniques to use on future builds. Built box stock, the only things I had to scratch-build were a new windshield (after I had gotten a spot of super glue right in the middle of the kit windshield on the driver side ?) and the windshield wipers and fifth wheel release handle, made out of metal wire. I used black and brown sharpies to make the blanket in the sleeper look like a Southwestern-style saddle blanket. The main body color is Rustoleum Colonial Red, with rustoleum gray and white for the stripe job, and silver sharpie used on the smallest stripe of the three. Unfortunately the paint did a little bit of cracking on the stripes (too many layers of paint is my guess). Any comments and criticism are highly welcomed.

Great looking W900.  Very well done.

Thank you, that means a lot. I’m currently getting started on an AMT W900 log truck build, I’ll be putting that in the WIP section soon.

Nice build, i really like the red color of the body with the grey and white stripes , that gives it a look from the eighties.??

Thank you. I was originally going to do blue as the base color, but the dark red laid down nice. (For a rattle can)

This looks pretty good, overall... I REALLY like the blanket in the bunk... That is an excellent idea... Really adds some realism to it... I like the fifth wheel release, as well... And the striping job looks nice, and the interior is beautiful... Very nice work...

Thank you for the kind words. The southwest-style blanket was done by stippling the pattern in with black and brown ultra fine point sharpies. Those markers sure come in handy.

I agree...Those markers are awesome... I use them for headlight surrounds and such... Never used them much for interior work, though... Like I said, great idea for the blankie...

Nice job on this. It looks great. This kit was my very first big rig and I enjoyed it so much it got me hooked.

I have heard many knock this kit because it is pretty much a snap kit, but in my opinion it is a great kit, especially to get your feet wet.

I am gonna build another for a special build I have planned. Look forward to seeing your next one

What did you use for the rubber trim look around windows?

On this build I just used a black Sharpie and masking tape to help keep a straight line. I agree, the Cat 3406 is pretty nice for a snaptite piece.
