junkyardjeff Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 I am building a AMT 57 Ford that I would like to build that had one of those 352s swapped in,I have a really nice FE that I do not know what it came from bit missing parts so what kit has a nice FE engine I could used.
Mark Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 AMT '60 Starliner. Get one of the Round 2 reissues (there were two) as those have two building versions and two complete engines. You can take the stock version 352 for your '57 project, and still build the '60. 1
junkyardjeff Posted September 23, 2021 Author Posted September 23, 2021 Is the trans on one of the engines in that 60 kit have a 3 speed o/d,the one I have had that trans that I used on a Y block. I do have a couple 390s from the 34 p/u kits but want one a little more detailed.
Mark Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Not sure, I do know both engines have manual transmissions and they are not the same. And I don't recall seeing a floor shifter in the kit.
junkyardjeff Posted September 23, 2021 Author Posted September 23, 2021 Forgot I had a junker 58 Edsel so that is what the 57 is going to get and will find the 60 kit when I build a 56 kit, time to use up what I have before buying anything.
deuces wild Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 The 1960 Starliner is it!!!!.?? It comes with the 3 Holley 2-bbl intake setup and the 2x4 Holley setup also.....

Isn't that an M-E-L engine in that kit ?
junkyardjeff Posted September 24, 2021 Author Posted September 24, 2021 Its the Ford base body so it has the FE.
junkyardjeff Posted September 24, 2021 Author Posted September 24, 2021 Cut the auto trans off the Edsel FE and got a 4 speed ready to go on,the other FE is 3/4 there so I will gather the parts to make it look like a 360 HP 352 for the next project.
Dave G. Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 I didn't even know a naturally aspirated 352 could make 360 HP ,never mind when it's made from styrene. !
junkyardjeff Posted September 24, 2021 Author Posted September 24, 2021 It was the police interceptor engine and had solid lifters and I think header like exhaust manifolds. 1

Ya I'm just surprised because I know what it took to get my 390's I raced to 375-400hp. Course the interceptor was a legend back then but I never really knew the stats. 1
junkyardjeff Posted September 25, 2021 Author Posted September 25, 2021 I have never seen one and only heard about them, power could have been exaggerated some.

Who knows if it made it or not but I grew up in that era a car nut and somehow seemed to have missed this iteration of 352. Fairly impressive specs too.
Rodent Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 This article popped up on Google today. No affiliation, but it claims to be a 352/360HP. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/family-owned-1960-ford-starliner-emerges-after-50-years-it-s-a-rare-hi-po-bird-171572.html
