Bob Warfield Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Having out of the hobby for 40+ years I'm not very knowledgeable about what's been offered for a long time. Has there ever been a cross ram available for AMC engines or is there one that could be used and look realistic? Thanks Bob
Mark Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Some of the Jo-Han AMC kits had them. Offhand, the Shirley Shahan AMX (and "pro street" reboxed versions from Jo-Han and Testors), '70 Javelin and Rebel Machine, and '71-'74 Javelin/AMX kits had one. If you are fitting to an AMT engine, you'll need to tweak the intake as the Jo-Han kits all use the 1966 Marlin engine block. Jo-Han never tooled a '66-'79 style block. The SC/Rambler kit does not include a cross-ram intake.

Mark Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Then the Jo-Han intake will be a perfect fit. A couple of years ago, I went to an AMC gathering where the SC was the featured car. I think there were about thirty of them there, one or two did have cross ram intakes.
Bills72sj Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Bob, please share a WIP post for those of us who would like to follow along.

espo Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Another option to consider. The Revell '69 Camaro Z-28 kit with the blue Z-28 on the box has a cross ram duel quad setup for the optional Z-28 engine. This includes a couple of nice Holly carbs and a chrome oblong air cleaner. You may have to do a little sanding to get the angles where the intake meets the heads and block. These seem to come up as sale items often and are a treasure trove of goodies.
TarheelRick Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 (edited) Or you could scratchbuild one. It is a little bit of work, but with some sheet stock and some half round styrene it is possible. I searched for pictures on the internet and copied them to the best of what I wanted. This is the engine and chassis of my SCRambler gasser. http:// Edited September 29, 2021 by TarheelRick
Bob Warfield Posted September 30, 2021 Author Posted September 30, 2021 Thanks guys. I also found 1/1 pictures and decided to fabricate 1. Shouldn't be too bad. Thanks Bob
