BlackSheep214 Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 The other night, I was pulling out a few of my old model kits from boxes from my youth/teen years. The pic of the kit was one I've always loved so much through the years, I refused to part with it. Now, it will be time to give it a proper restoration from polishing the bottle, strip the old paint off the space capsules, repaint them with new decals, new fishing lines, and a new background photo. To top it off, a cork to close up the bottle opening. This is a good excuse to start this in the New Year. May tear it down ahead of time for prep work.
peteski Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 That is a blast from the past! Back in the day I built couple of those "bottles" from the series. I think one was a sail ship. They are long gone now.
bisc63 Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Love the Apollo-Soyuz hook up! Who made this kit?

peteski Posted October 1, 2021 Posted October 1, 2021 (edited) No those were different series and manufacturer. Few years ago, on eBay, I scored a shrink-wrapped Monogram "Car in a Bottle" dragster in a Pepsi bottle. Still shrink-wrapped now, but I might open it some day. The spacecraft in a bottle was a "Super Scenes" series from Addar. I don't think that the Addar molds were purchased by Revell. Edited October 4, 2021 by peteski
bisc63 Posted October 1, 2021 Posted October 1, 2021 That is cool stuff! Love the old box art. I have never seen those Addar "SuperScenes" kits before, and that whole series of Planet of The Apes scenes shown on the above box just appeals to the kid in me, heck, they ALL do! I think Aurora absorbed a lot of the Addar molds, or was it the other way around? The two companies were related, I think, maybe one started from the ashes of the other, or by a former employee? Someone here should know.
BlackSheep214 Posted October 1, 2021 Author Posted October 1, 2021 Wow... I never knew. I had assumed it was Revell. Never heard of Addar. Talk about a really old brand back then. I found it very interesting to see the other SuperScenes available. The WW1 Dogfight one would have been a cool one to get. I used to watch all the Planet of the Apes series on twlevision as a kid. Fun times then. Thank you for clarifying the make of those old relic bottle kits of yesteryear. I wonder if anyone still has any around. It would be cool to see them.
peteski Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 (edited) The Super Scenes show up on eBay. If you look for "addar super scenes" there are currently 7 kits available, but the price is way, way north of the original price. As for Addar company, according to https://www.oldmodelkits.com/index.php?manu=Addar "Addar was an attempt by ex-Aurora employees to carry on the name when Aurora went under."
