The first coat of primer reveals some flaws that need correction - the Renshape that forms the bottom half of the door has a rough surface that requires a second pass with finer sand paper

Haven’t  painted a Ferrari in years - all the Ferrari sages on the forum prime in pink - so - got me some Tamiya pink primer …

Pretty in Pink - but i got to make it red - but which red ?  I sampled 4 different reds - the two on the card are - top - Tamiya’s Italian red - the bottom is Model Master enamel Italian red - i think the Model master would be correct for the Lemans winner - but chass .0010 is a lighter red - the Shirley family went to great lengths to do an accurate representation of the Spa winner - so I’m using the Tamiya red …

You whipped that body right into shape! Excellent! I grew up about as close to Calgary as you can get, and still be in the U.S. There's some stunningly gorgeous country, up that way. Jasper, Banff, Waterton-Glacier...

I'm sure you will Andy. Always a bit touchy to pick the right red tone for a vintage Ferrari, between old pics or newer pics of restored cars.

Look forward to your feedback on the effect of pink primer on final color. Never tried that myself.

The trunk and eng dept are both body color - but this paint is hi gloss - mite use a semi gloss clear coat here - like the low sheen Alclad clear …

The trunk now wears a coat of Alclad light sheen clear coat - contrast with the bonnet - which sports the Tamiya red uncoated - think I’ll clear coat the underside of the bonnett and the trunk -

I like the toned down sheen.

Nope - itals were right until they made imports - but the throttle pedal is glued to the bulkhead in full throttle position - had to fix  that -

Need a spare wheel for the trunk - i knew i would need this set of Herb Deeks wire wheels some day ….   Its older than my kids ….  The tires are the same as the Umi kit tires - but the photo-etch is just two rings instead of three …
