My Iawata AB was glaying up just as I was about to coat my Tamiya Testarossa, so I bought a new AB and wanted to build this kit to get used it it before I return to the Ferrari.

This kit, esp. at this scale is all about the exterior.

I've de-sprued, cleaned up, washed, primed (zero grey) and used a range of Zero Lacquer and Tamiya Acrylic thus far. Its a relatively well detailed kit considering its size, but I'm not going to put any extra details in, you won't see them!

All bits excluding the body shell, in this pic, only the wheels and wheel backs have been assembled.

So far so good with the new AB, its VERY differrent to the last one.

2 step masking process to get the body painted.

i'm going to clear coat before and after decals, so I am worried about the multiple coats of paint getting too thick.

a few coats of zero grey primer, zero "gloss" white, then masked for blue with Tamiya acrylics, and masked again for tamiya acrylic black.

A bit of bleed, but there are decals to go over, I'm going to try to lightly sand the colour out.

Wheel decals applied & coated with matt clear.

chassis complete, just waiting for the body shelll

the exhaust (tail pipe) was curiously missing from the kit, but replaced with a bit of aluminium tube...

today, touched up the body shell, will be clear coating this week with a tail wind...!

It's really looking good, I've built a few WRC cars of various sizes, this is a particularly good kit. These are Ford Focus in Ken Block decals 1/24 and 1/43 scale..

Some decals are aftermarket others are my own printed decals.

This is a coule of months of work here! I had a minor accident that stopped me from modelling for 3 months, but back at the desk now.

I coated the body with Zero 2K, it went on OK, not great, but acceptable.

I then added the decals, and resprayed with Zero 2K. This 2nd layer was not so good, lots of pitting and a few dust impregnated bits. this kit is too small for me to sand and polish out, so i'm leaving it as is.

The declas broadly speaking went on OK, but took a while & lots of frustration to conform. I used heated water and lots of Daco strong, and occasionally a hairdryer. the thin line aboth the front lip went wavey, and the Micheline below the front badge is wonky & one of the Ford decals above the rear wheel arch has a hole in it, but I'm not a perfectionist!

Currently working through the final bits - masking and spraying the windows and painting the lights.

This is coming up nicely!  I must admit decal work like this scares me. You’ve done well.
I hope you’re all mended after your accident now.
