Has anybody dealt with Upscale Hobbies lately?  I order the new Revell Jag from them in mid July.  When I saw them in September appearing in Michael's, I thought it would be sent soon.  When it wasn't, I contacted Upscale and they told me they were having trouble getting what Revell had allotted to them.

I understand the shipping issues and all that due to Covid but since then, I have contacted them 2 more times and I get no replies.  Now it seems that a lot of online hobby shops have them in stock but I still get no reply from Upscale Hobbies.

I also ordered the Bronco/sandcrab kit from MegaHobby and already received that one from Mega but still nothing from Upscale.

I Upscale still in business?  I have ordered several things in the past, some pre-ordered and received everything quickly.  So I'm curious.

I just checked his website and he has the Jaguar XK-E Coupe in stock, but he doesn't have a lot of anything in stock.  He is out-of-stock on the majority of items.  I would cancel your order with him and go somewhere else where the item is in stock and order from them.

I’ve not done business w Upscale - but check Model Roundup’s site - I got mine from them about ten days ago - got the convertible - but

they had stocks of the coupe also - just in case -

by the way - I think the kit did turn out pretty good - but the wheels are a disappointment …

I use UpScale Hobbies often, mostly for detail sets and Zero Paint.  I was in contact with Chris very recently so yes, he is still in business.  I can’t answer as to why you are having trouble getting your kit.  I would tend to believe what Chris told you.  He is a smaller operation and may not get the same “attention” from distributors as bigger vendors do?

Not that this has anything to do with his inventory, it has more to do with communication perhaps.  Both Chris and his wife had COVID. His wife was in ICU and fought it for 30 days.  Unfortunately she lost her battle.  Chris updated the UpScale Hobbies Facebook page regularly.  Maybe he didn’t do the same on the .com site.  This all happened in the timeframe that you referred to.

I know it is frustrating when vendors don’t reply in a timely manner.  Hope you get your kit soon.

It’s kind of weird cause I have order many kits from them, any without any problems. Like nacho said: he recently lost his wife so maybe the business it’s kind of slow now. Beside the shipping container problems also affect the supplies chain. Hope you can solve soon!

Thanks John, I was not aware of that.  Given that info, I will be patient a while longer.  I rarely follow retail sites via Facebook simply because they have enough info on everyone with all of the different algorithms they (FB) use..

I also don't buy via FB as there are enough thieves and hackers that use FB, it's like shooting fish in a barrel to them.  Paranoid?  Absolutely!  I've just seen too many things happen via FB in my 40+ years of working in IT.

All that said, I like Upscale Hobbies.  Their inventory sells out fast but the wide range of products and manufactures they carry suit my needs pretty well.  Same can be said for MegaHobby and Model Builder's Warehouse.  They are my top 3 I go to for what I need.

Thanks again for the feedback...much appreciated!

The test shots were criticized for a number of faults - some worse than others - but my convertible kit is fine - the coupe appeared to have issues with the windshield height / contour - haven’t gotten the coupe yet but based on what’s in the convertible kit - I wouldn’t be afraid to get one …
