Hello, guys..... I'm gonna be getting the '62 Thunderbird that they just released here soon. I was wondering..... What all would be required to turn this into a coupe? I like the roadster but a coupe would be something different than most others....

Thanks for any help!

Nothing special ,, just the body and rear glass from an old annual or promo coupe should do it.

Thanks, Steve........ I was thinking along the lines of just grafting a roof on to the '62 body. It wouldn't even have to be a Thunderbird roof..... I'll be building it 'mild custom', so a custom roof might would be cool.

Anyone done that? if so, Please share....

Since vintage Tbird annuals aren't exactly falling from trees, I'd suggest more common sources. How about stretching a 57 Tbird roof? Or trying to sand down the original convertible top. Maybe try cutting down a Revell 58 Tbird roof.

My personal favorite would be to graft the roof from a 60 Starliner, as that roof compliments the lines of the Rocketbird perfectly. A close second would be a 62 Chevy bubble top. Or maybe a 57 Ford roof. Possibly a 59 Impala roof.

Or if you really want something different, how 'bout this!

Lots of choices if you're doing a custom anyway.

I remember that build! (and the inspiration behind it) :D  Looks really good....

Seems like that would be the most logical thing to do, seeing as how the roof from the '58 is a separate part. Scale difference shouldn't matter much.....

Don't forget to check out this thread about the '63 TBird Italien coupe for another roof possibility:
