Abarth 2000 by Politoy

I had ordered a Politoy Alfa Romeo Scarabeo on eBay and when the package showed up yesterday it was not an Alfa at all but an Abarth.  

In the package was this 1/25th scale Politoys Abarth 2000 which fortunately was in excellent condition.  I really like it so struck a deal via eBay with the seller to keep it instead of the Alfa.  I guess I got lucky because these can be worth for a lot more than the Alfa and it is my first Abarth.

Excellent model, Gary - looks like it doesn't have any issues at all - remember this is more than 50 years of age!

If you want to turn it into a more realistic model, here are some pics of the original (might be helpful with detailing) - the model represents the first version from 1968, in 1969 the works cars sported often full width rear spoilers, several cars were sold to privateers who mounted often various tabs and fins, for 1970 the nose was altered and the engine cover partially cut away to save more weight:

Thank you Helmut for the photos.  Some really good reference material there and some great ideas for detailing my Abarth.  It amazes me how that engine just seems to be hanging off the back of the chassis.  I know Porsches etc do the same but the vertical in line 4 makes it seem more pronounced.

You are right, the engine is completely behind the drive axle, which gives good traction, but possibly make handling a bit nervous.

The Alpine A 110 has the engine also very far back, but the Abarth is the most extreme exemple.
