Cool Hand Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 (edited) Thanks Bob, always appreciate your comments. Like a majority of my builds the Camaro will be a little bit different. Edited February 3 by Cool Hand
Cool Hand Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 Picked some wheels from the stash I 3D printed awhile back, done some cutting to chassis and roughed in the stance. And started doing the body work. 5
BK9300 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Your 'prep' work looks like a very expensive matte wrap on a real car!

(Not that I think you want MY opinion)

Ha ha thanks Brian, the Mr Finishing Surfacer 1500 black is good stuff. 3 hours ago, Steve H said: Hey Luke, so…the Malibu looks REALLY good, but I’m in love with that Camaro.👆Killer! Then we will see how good it looks. Im very happy how the stance turned out on the Camaro, its spot on for sure. Nice and low and Hella Flush.
Cool Hand Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 Bit of a preview. Got the wheels centres painted. 2
Cool Hand Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 Thanks Bob, Im looking forward to finishing the wheels and piecing them together.
Cool Hand Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 (edited) Finished the interior for the 64 Malibu. Edited February 7 by Cool Hand 3
Cool Hand Posted February 7 Author Posted February 7 (edited) Applied the usual Tamiya TS-14 black to the Ken Mary Skyline and the Malibu. Cant complain with the result, but im out of practice. I will make sure to get some better pictures when I take them of the paint stands. Edited February 7 by Cool Hand 2
Cool Hand Posted February 7 Author Posted February 7 Appreciate the comment Bob, cant wait to remove them from the paint stands and do a paint mock up.
Cool Hand Posted February 7 Author Posted February 7 (edited) Applied the colour coat to the Camaro, and finished the wheels. Edited February 7 by Cool Hand 2
BK9300 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Luke, I've heard that 'Chameleon' paint can be difficult to work with. Looks like you've mastered it - paint came out awesome!

Thanks Brian, SMS colour shift/chameleon paints are user friendly just a black base then build up with light coats to gain full coverage of the pearls. Like all things just takes practice and learning to gain an understanding of how things work. 14 hours ago, Jim Dodson said: That interior is 'Striking'!! Love it!! Thanks Jim appreciate the comment. Hope the overall look of the car is striking as well.
Cool Hand Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 Got the Skyline of the paint stand. Like always cant wait to do a paint mock up. 2
Cool Hand Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 (edited) Applied a new base coat of SMS paints Jet Black to this Holden LC Torana build, I wasnt happy with paint on it before so decided to do it again. Edited February 8 by Cool Hand 2
Zippi Posted February 8 Posted February 8 That's a good looking spit shine on the Ken Mary Skyline Luke. Well...second time arounds always better on the Torana right. I thought it looks Great the way it was. 1
Cool Hand Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 Thanks Bob, not bad for straight from the can. Plan to polish with Tamiya compounds so I hope that should take it to next level shine and increase to depth of the reflection. Ha ha, yeah l learned what I did wrong the first time. I made the mistake and applied the SMS Pearl Blue Berry over grey surfacer, its has to be used over a black base.
Cool Hand Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 (edited) Colour coat applied. Edited February 9 by Cool Hand Replaced pics for improved quality 1
Steve H Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Luke! That Camaro is off the hook! I have a question… is there some sort of gravitational pull in Australia that makes paint smoother?🤷🏻♂️🤓😂. Your paint jobs are extraordinary sir. That Camaro….😍 1

Just good old perfect Australian summer weather. Appreciate the kind words. 2 hours ago, cifenet said: Great color and paint work. Good job!
