junkyardjeff Posted December 31, 2021 Posted December 31, 2021 Working on the 41 Lincoln I built over 40 years ago and for some reason painted the springs silver, since I did not want to take the wheels off the suspension I brush painted the springs black bit even after 40 years the silver was not stable. What is with silver and possibly gold paints.
Mark Posted January 1, 2022 Posted January 1, 2022 Not sure what (chemically) makes them different, but you might get better results using acrylic paint (no solvents to attack the silver).
junkyardjeff Posted January 1, 2022 Author Posted January 1, 2022 I had to do multiple coats bit one would think after 40 years that silver paint would not do that.
Sledsel Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Even handling after years the silver seems not cured (testors bottle silver)
junkyardjeff Posted January 4, 2022 Author Posted January 4, 2022 It was Testors silver,I do not know what I was thinking back then but I used alot of it.
peteski Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 There was nothing to think about. Back then we all used that never-drying Testors chrome silver, because that was basically all that was available for hobby paints for chrome-like color. We all used it.
