E St. Kruiser50 Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 (edited) Cool detail WIP - vewwwwy edoocayshonal! Between your custom plating rig and and your climate controlled walk-in paint booth* you have a little model-making factory operating here. Hey GB Yeah, been havin' way too much fun, but I love it . Been a "PLASTIC PURIST all my life, so it took a while to convince myself to do some metal stuff like some other's. Coupla years ago I bought all this stuff in the pic's I'm posting, to sorta step up my game at some point, but got involved in my chrome system, and that took a couple of year's to sort out and perfect, so the plan is to fire up this stuff and start "Turning Some "Cranks" later this summer, and get back into the machining and tool making that I loved so much, for so many years. Gonna be good to get back some of those ol' "Feel Good's" Anyhow, here's my "Little Machine Shop" - dave Edited February 18, 2009 by Treehugger Dave
george 53 Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 OK NOW ya gone an dun it! You don't build those beautifully magnificent works of automobilia with JUST glue an paint????? Yeeesh, hows a po ol chicano boy from southwest Deeeetroit gonna compete wit dat? Oh well, I guess I won't, I'll just keep usein my X-acto knives an little files, an have my own kinda fun, the kind I'm sure YOU'LL understand! ( Ain't these lil cars a BLAST??? )
E St. Kruiser50 Posted February 19, 2009 Author Posted February 19, 2009 ( Ain't these lil cars a BLAST??? ) NO KIDDIN' GEORGE I CAN'T EVEN 'SPLAIN TO YOU GEORGE HOW MUCH FUN THIS IS - BUT "I'MA LOVIN' IT , AND ALL MY FRIEND'S LIKE YOU!!!
E St. Kruiser50 Posted February 20, 2009 Author Posted February 20, 2009 (edited) Hi all Well, the ol' Gal is painted and got the body mostly rubbed out, but need to do the finishin' touches, and then I'll do the door's and such. Took 8 hour's to paint this thing yesterday, and got the rubbin; started early, as I was excited to see it "SHINEY" . Paint really turned out nice with nothin' to do extra, 'least as far as I can tell . , so I'ma happy camper . Used the old camera for these pic's, as the new one seemed to wash out the color. Have to check the manual and change the setting. Here's a couple of pic's - dave Edited February 20, 2009 by Treehugger Dave

Peter Lombardo Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Dave, yellow you said....yellow you did....it looks great....a nice easy target for the radar gun! Be careful.
E St. Kruiser50 Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) Thanks everyone This is "Spot-on" to the REAL YELLOW . Even brighter than the other pic's. A rich, bright pearl yellow - PUT ON THE SHADES . The engine area is coming along pretty good, and will be pretty heavily detailed. This is just mocked up to give an idea of the finished product. Windshield frame and cowl will be flat black. Here's more pic's. I like these better - dave This one you can see pearl highlight's. Edited February 21, 2009 by Treehugger Dave
45calibermodel Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 All I can say is you are sick in the head man lol. Totally awsome build. I hope I can master body work like that some day.

James Flowers Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 There's nothing like a look at Me paint job. Looks like it is coming together quite nicely .
Bernard Kron Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 The lines and flow of your conversion are spot on. The shiny new paint really shows it off. Can't wait to see it with the bumpers, headlights and trim.
Peter Lombardo Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Dave, I am glad you went with the yellow and not a light bright green, cause I still see some Grinch in there! Ha...Ha..It is looking really good...I like the "old school" air cleaner tri top on the engine, nice blending of the years...or is that "decades!"
chris coller Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Nothing sexier or more eye catching than a yellow vette. Except of course a woman with certain porpotions. Wink Wink!

E St. Kruiser50 Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) When I was a kid, my favorite uncle - ROCKY" - , who lived in the state of Washington, named all his car's "SHASTA", and curious, when I was little, asked why he did that. He said it was because SHE-HASTA (The car-SHASTA) HAVE GAS, OIL WIPERS, A TUNE-UP, AND...., WELL, YOU GET THE IDEA. Just being silly . "SHASTA" here 'hasta have an interior, an engine, a chassis, well you know . Any how, havin fun today, finally getting to do the very best part, and that's assembling, and getting to see after all this time and work, if the picture in my head that I've been re-creating really works . Well I can tell that so far, for me, I'm happy. Mostly just mocked up. Tail-light's, headlight's, lisence plate frame and decal badging are permanently installed. Bumpers are just taped in place. Took these pic's outside today to see if this new high powered camera like's this color more outdoor's, and it seemed to work, so I guess that's where I'll be snapping pic's of this from now on. "THIS IS THE REAL COLOR" finally. This thing is so bright, that when I turned off the light's last night in my model room, and I could still see it . Edited February 22, 2009 by Treehugger Dave
Bernard Kron Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) Oooohh!! Headlights and bumpers and stuff! Looks great! Any way to hide the hinge doohicky for the rear hatch? Edited February 22, 2009 by gbk1
